The Sr. HR Generalist is a strategic and influential role within the APJC PXT HR team, providing centralized, business-agnostic support to approximately 4,900 PXT employees, including 1,026 people managers, across the Asia Pacific, Japan, and China (APJC) region. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the organization, navigating complex and ambiguous HR challenges with a high degree of prudence, professionalism, and proficiency.
Key job responsibilities
1. Subject Matter Expertise:
o Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Amazon's policies and practices in the APJC region, acting as a subject matter expert and providing sound judgment and effective counsel.
o Leverage a keen understanding of the nuances and challenges across the 13+ countries under their purview to partner with business leaders, people managers, regional HR Business Partners (HRBPs), and HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
2. Case Management:
o Manage medium to high complexity cases across various HR domains, particularly in the areas of Performance Management, Employee Relations, and Talent management.
o Navigate the maze of varied perspectives with diligence, demonstrating strong backbone and influencing skills to negotiate optimal outcomes for all stakeholders.
3. Process Optimization and Standardization:
o Champion the cause of operational excellence and standardization efforts, optimizing and enhancing existing HR processes to eliminate systemic issues.
o Dive deep to assess and analyze risks and impact, and demonstrate diligent ownership to partner with cross-functional teams, such as Amazon Experience and Technology (AET), Legal, Compliance, and Payroll, to implement scalable solutions.
4. Mentorship and Team Development:
o Serve as a mentor and role model to other Generalists on the team, leveraging their breadth and depth of experience to shape the overall direction of the team.
o Actively invest in the development and future success of the team, rallying them and leading the charge in brainstorming ideas.
5. Operational Excellence and Stakeholder Management:
o Effectively partner with business leaders, people managers, regional HR Business Partners (HRBPs), and HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to spot trends, share insights, and develop strategies to improve team effectiveness.
o Establish and lead a strong cadence of business reviews and reporting (e.g., 2x2s, MBRs/QBRs) to the leadership team.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in HR, with a strong track record in the APJC region.
• Understanding of HR policies, practices, and legal frameworks across multiple countries in the APJC region.
• Demonstrated expertise in complex case management, process optimization, and stakeholder management.
