Summary of the Role


We are seeking a Sr. Facilities Engineer to support our Building Automation System and the design, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of building mechanical controls across all global sites. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of building system automation and HVAC controls, including system architecture, hardware and software, programming, and performance optimization. The engineer will collaborate with Global and site engineering representatives to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and align with best practices and standards.


Responsibilities


  • Monitor, track, and resolve building controls issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide global technical support for the operation and monitoring of BMS systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Support sites with troubleshooting and problem analysis with HVAC and utility plant controls.
  • Review and optimize building automation systems design and operation.
  • Analyze system designs and project requirements to identify potential improvements for performance, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Make programming and configuration adjustments to BMS, as directed, to continuously improve system performance.
  • Assist with developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Review and improve existing BMS standards, addressing gaps and aligning with industry guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Global Engineering to develop and implement best practices for BMS design, installation, and operation.
  • May participate in the design, construction, and commissioning phases of building automation systems for new projects and retrofits.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in building management system design, operation, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of BMS architecture, hardware, software, programming, and sequence of operations.
  • Ability to translate and document BMS sequence of operations programs into plain English.
  • Experience analyzing plans, design specifications, and codes to determine project requirements and risks.
  • Ability to read, develop, and analyze Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Experience in communication protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
  • Intermediate level experience with at least one of the following BAS platforms: Siemens Desigo, Honeywell Niagara, Johnson Controls, and Automated Logic Corporation (ALC).
  • Working knowledge of the design, construction, and commissioning processes as related to mechanical controls.
  • Experience designing and implementing building and space pressurization solutions and chiller/boiler plant sequencing control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve system designs for performance and efficiency.
  • Deep understanding of building systems commissioning principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resourceful and team-oriented problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of cGMP compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience supporting BMS systems across multiple global sites.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE Standard 90.1 and ASHRAE Guideline 36.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems and strategies for improving system efficiency.
  • Familiar with automated Fault Detection and Diagnostic (FDD) tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for building automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for producing
