As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial & Investment Banking unit's Broker Dealer Platform, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. As a leader for this team, you will drive innovation and solution delivery while leading a technical area and will serve as a primary decision maker for your teams


Job responsibilities


  • Develops and implement technology strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives, with a focus on post-trade processes and legacy system transformation.
  • Identifies opportunities for technology innovation and improvement in post-trade operations and system modernization. 
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline and automate post-trade processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk, collaborate with other departments and senior management to understand technology needs and priorities
  • Evaluates and select modern technology solutions that enhance system performance, scalability, and security. Also, leads initiatives to transform legacy technology systems to modern platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects, particularly those related to post-trade processes and legacy system modernization. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Manages an organization of 40 plus members, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment. 
  • Keeps abreast about regulatory changes affecting post-trade processes and ensure systems are updated, simultaneously collaborates with compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant financial regulations.
  • Collaborates with other departments and senior management to understand technology needs and priorities. Communicates technology strategies and initiatives, particularly those related to post-trade and legacy transformation, to stakeholders.
  • Develops and manage the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Monitor and report on financial performance related to technology initiatives.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Proven track record of leading technology teams and projects, particularly in post-trade processes and legacy system transformation.
  • Experience at a leading financial services organization.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Experience working at code level
  • Familiarity with post-trade technology platforms and systems, as well as modern technology solutions including legacy system transformation.
  • Awareness of regulations affecting post-trade activities, such as Dodd-Frank, EMIR, and MiFID II.
