The DevOps team optimizes the deployment and management of Illumina’s global cloud-based informatics assets and provides front-line development and operational support. You’ll work with cutting-edge DevOps tools and technologies like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Public/Private Cloud, Kubernetes, and Docker to manage cloud-based enterprise applications.
This role focuses on optimizing the deployment and management of Illumina’s AWS cloud-based informatics assets while providing front-line support.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux OS, scripting (Python/Bash), configuration management tools, and proven success in deploying and managing cloud-based enterprise applications. Excellent collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills are essential. You’ll leverage your expertise to deliver breakthrough genomics informatics solutions, transforming human health through DNA sequencing.
Position Requirements:
Orchestrate the provisioning, installation, dynamic configuration, monitoring and maintenance of DB servers in the cloud environment.
Programming skills – Python, Go, Ruby and/or Bash
Expertise in administration, configuration, optimization and monitoring of Linux at scale. CentOS, ubuntu and Amazon Linux are our base distributions.
Solid understanding of networking, network routing, and trouble shooting
Skilled in the implementation of logging and monitoring tools like Splunk, Prometheus, ELK, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trial, and others
Experience with Public (AWS, Azure, or Alibaba) or Private (OpenStack. etc.) Cloud-based deployment and support.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Harness, Bamboo and/or teamcity.
Experience with one or more automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt, Terraform, CloudFormation.
Experience with modern container systems such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes,ECS, EKS, Fargate, Vagrant, etc. preferred.
The ability to pick up new technologies quickly and rapidly deep dive
Use of large-scale data processing tools such as Hadoop, Elastic Search.
A strong preference for collaborative teamwork and work/knowledge sharing.

Position Summary:
Operates organization's complex high traffic, business critical internet site communications and/or network-based (cloud) product systems.
Plans, designs and implements scalable local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP).
Responsible for system performance; supports/troubleshoots network issues and coordinates installation of such items as routers and switches with appropriate vendors. Develops tools to automate the deployment, administration and monitoring of a network system. Provides training and assists with proposal writing.
Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons and works on project implementation.
Works with development teams to enhance and improve system operability.
Conducts tests of network redundancy, resilience and failover of network elements to ensure up-time standards are fully achieved.
May be required to provide on-call service coverage with other department employees.
