Position Summary:
Illumina is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing and lifecycle management teams to drive design, development, test & deployment of solutions within our MES landscape. This is a hands-on position for a functional role directly responsible for implementing solutions within Camstar, Illumina’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The overarching goal is to scale our MES landscape to stay ahead of rapid organizational growth. The individual will work with cross functional team to ensure solutions being deployed meet Illumina’s Quality Standards and industry best practices. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, solutioning, testing and deployment efforts, creating solutions for organizational needs.
Position Responsibilities:
Compile relevant information related to product and process definition, analyzing business and compliance requirements, assessing risks for impact, and procuring accurate information for use in global systems.
- Support, and iterate models in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) used for testing enhancements in MES for backward compatibility.
- Drive improved utilization of MES for a manufacturing area with respect to both configuration and core functionality, and act as “voice of the customer” for manufacturing.
- Understand master data and the roles played by PLM, ERP, MES, LIMS, etc. in support of manufacturing.
- Engage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assure change and configuration documentation is accurate and complete, all relevant documentation is included, and appropriate implementation strategies and validation activities have been completed.
- Review and monitor implementation activities to ensure the change has been completed properly.
- Responsible for the accuracy of system data through process evaluation and validation.
- Develop and maintain product and process configurations and collaborate on the implementation of solutions in PLM and ERP.
- Identify, execute, and support process improvement initiatives of varying complexity engaging global, cross functional support.
- Work with peers and subordinates to ensure timely completion of projects and tasks.
- Take initiative to develop and implement new processes to strengthen data accuracy or enhance efficiency.
- Demonstrate effective communication style working with all levels of organizational structure, through multiple departments, and across global sites.
- Proactively troubleshoot and optimize application configuration and development to ensure performance and reliability
- Collaborate with database teams to ensure service availability, application uptime and maintain prompt issue resolution.
- On call for critical deployments and escalation point for high-priority system incidents
- Provide solution expertise; serve as an internal consultant to promote best in class high standard solutions in the manufacturing space.

Position Requirements:
- 5 years of hands on experience as a Software Engineer or Business Analyst in MES (Camstar) or similar technology
- Experience in working with applications in a regulated environment, specially ensuring 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance
- Exhibit excellent critical thinking and strong analytical skills
- Bring passion to work each day and have the innate ability to take initiative
- Exude confidence in ability to resolve complex problems
- Ability to jump into a code review and help design great software with peers
- Ability to quickly absorb new concepts and ideas, including Illumina’s business model, incorporating regional or site-specific requirements.
- Collaborate successfully with a diverse set of peers and stakeholders
- Cross-cultural experience preferred
- Possess in-depth knowledge of ERP, MES, SAP QM/PP, SECS/GEM and LIMS systems
- Experience as an industrial or process engineer is a plus
- Experience with enterprise analysis including development of solution proposals and creation of business cases
- Experience with business process improvement techniques and methodologies
- Exceptional analytical, planning, organizational and problem solving abilities
- Expertise in requirements gathering, writing software requirements, process modeling and data mapping
- Strong ability to present ideas and information in group settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills that non-technical end users can understand
- Knowledge of the full software development life cycle using Agile/Scrum Methodology
- Experience in configuration management, operations, and/or quality within a regulated industry
- High degree of initiative and ownership, as well as a proven history of delivering results while working with several different departments in a fast-paced environment
