What is the job?

We are looking for a passionate senior database developer, who enjoys technology, writing code and solving problems, to join our Technology team supporting the CignaLinks program in Cigna’s International Health.

As a developer and technical lead, you will work with SQL Server and Oracle databases as part of an agile scrum team dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of our CignaLinks framework, to enable efficient processing, modernization, usage expansion, and improved data exchanges with our vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance, mentorship, knowledge sharing and support

  
  

• Oversee technical release activities for team’s deliveries

  
  

• Communicating with business partners to set expectations and negotiate when needed, explaining complex technical issues and producing technical documentation 

  
  

• Maintain and promote adherence to best practices for data movement, data quality, data cleansing, and other ETL-related activities

  
  

• Perform advanced business and data analysis, driving data quality and integrity

  
  

• Analyzing requirements to ensure information is complete and determine complexity. 

  
  

• Lead Design, ensuring developed solutions are maintainable, scalable, testable deployable and documented.

  
  

• Create and maintain stored procedures, cursors, functions, views, and complex SQL statements and queries in SQL Server and Oracle

  
  

• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) design and development using native SSIS tasks, custom Visual Basic code in script tasks, and SSIS XML configuration files

  
  

• Unit test changes and participate in peer code reviews

  
  

• Troubleshoot coding issues, diagnose the problem, and implement a solution

  
  

• Utilize code repository/version control systems such as TFS

  
  

• Participate in Agile team activities, such as estimation, collaboration in requirements definition, code reviews, and contribution of feedback during retrospectives 

  
  

Skills and Experience

Essential requirements:

• 6+ years working as a SQL Server database developer.

  
  

• 6+ years of hands-on SSIS development experience.

  
  

• VB.net

  
  

• SQL Server 2019

  
  

• Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

  
  

• Experience working in an Agile scrum development model.

  
  

• Exceptional English verbal, written and interpersonal skills 

  
  

• Strong analytical and conceptual skills

  
  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

  
  

Nice to have requirements:

• Oracle PL/SQL

  
  

• Experience with scripting languages (sh, perl, .cmd and .bat scripts)
