What role will you play as a member of the Colgate's Information Technology team ? 

Platform Engineer specialist is focused in maintaining/ supporting the data ingestion tools that are used in Colgate for extracting data and taking the complete ownership of these tools. You must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. You will be thrilled by the prospect of working with the best data ingestion tools and do additional automations to fully use the capability of the tools. This team is a group of innovators and technologists that love to learn and collaborate!

What you will do as a Platform Engineer

• Supporting/ Monitoring all the existing data ingestion tools in the organization.

• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc

• Work with partners including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs

•  Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across teams, departments, and segments

• Create and update  documentation for the purposes of architectural governance and support or the tools that are used

• Assist in educating others on standard processes surrounding data ingestion work (i.e. data modeling, database design, ETL design, job scheduling and monitoring, etc.)

• Ensuring the ideal utilization of the warehouses with respect of cost is looked after for data ingestion tools

• Performs support related activities specific to the platforms supported by the team

• Follows all policies and standards

You are a Platform engineer-
 

• Your role would be to support the various platform for data ingestion and maintaining the standards and regulations
• Document all the practices and procedures 
• You will be the technical matter expert on the data ingestion and provide solutions pertaining to the tools
• Ensure that the data sanity and quality is maintained

You are a function expert -
 

• Your role would be to support the various platform for data ingestion and maintaining the standards and regulations
• Document all the practices and procedures 
• Act like a technical matter expert on the data ingestion and provide solutions pertaining to the tools

You connect the dots -
 

• You would be the one who would be guiding different Analytical engineers about the existing data in the warehouses and also the usage of the same
• You will ensure that there no duplicate data getting ingested into the Warehouse

You are a collaborator -
 

• You would be working closely with Analytical and data engineers to get the data ingested into the warehouse

You are an innovator -
 

• You would be responsible to look out for automations in the data ingestion areas and also ensuring that how different tools could be capitalised to bring betterment in the process of data ingestion.

What you’ll need…(Required)

• Bachelor's Degree or relevant

• Around 3 - 4 years of experience with data ingestion tools and data pipeline support work.

• Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases

• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and find opportunities for improvement

• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets

• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management

• A successful history of harmonizing, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets

• Experience supporting and working with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment

What you’ll need…(Preferred)

• Master's Degree Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field a plus

• Experience with data ingestion tools like HVR, SAP  Data Intelligence, SAP BTP solution, Airbyte, other open source ingestion tools.

• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Neo4j, etc

• Experience with cloud services: GCP, AWS, etc

• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, etc.

• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.

• Experience with Data Flow, Data Pipeline and workflow management tools: Cloud Composer, Airflow, Luigi, etc.
