Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Monitor, maintain, and optimize the AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and VPC.
- Incident Management: Respond to and resolve operational issues, outages, and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
- Automation: Automate routine operational tasks such as patching, backups, scaling, and resource provisioning using AWS tools (e.g., Lambda, CloudWatch) or scripting (Python, Bash).
- Monitoring & Alerts: Set up and manage monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, ELK stack, and other third-party tools to track performance, identify issues, and implement alerting mechanisms.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and failover processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Security Management: Implement security best practices, including managing IAM policies, security groups, encryption, and ensuring compliance with security standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Cost Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize AWS usage to reduce costs using AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, or other cost management tools.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure, operational procedures, and incident reports to ensure knowledge sharing and smooth handover during shifts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to support deployments, resolve infrastructure issues, and enhance operational processes.
- Patch Management: Manage and automate the patching of systems and software to ensure that AWS resources remain up-to-date and secure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in AWS cloud operations or system administration.
- Certifications: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect is a plus.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong experience with AWS core services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudFormation, and IAM.
- Familiarity with operating system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) in cloud environments.
- Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, or ELK.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (load balancers, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, etc.).
- Knowledge of security best practices, such as role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document procedures.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP) or hybrid cloud operations.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS ECS/EKS.
- Familiarity with database administration and optimization in AWS environments (RDS, DynamoDB, etc.).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
