Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef specializing in Indian cuisine to join our culinary team in Mumbai, India. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to create exceptional dining experiences that showcase the rich flavors and traditions of Indian cuisine.
- Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen operations
- Oversee daily food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring high-quality standards and consistency
- Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
- Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs while maintaining quality
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to enhance customer satisfaction and address any concerns
- Implement and maintain quality control measures for all dishes
- Contribute innovative ideas to improve menu offerings and kitchen processes
- Participate in menu tastings and special events as needed
- Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary, managing all kitchen operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Chef De Partie or in a similar senior kitchen role, preferably in Indian cuisine
- Extensive knowledge of Indian culinary techniques, regional flavors, and traditional recipes
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse kitchen team
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Hindi or other local languages is a plus
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution (preferred)
- Up-to-date food safety and hygiene certification
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Creativity and innovation in menu development and food presentation
- Familiarity with local ingredients and Mumbai's culinary scene
