Sourcing Engineer

Applied Materials is the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for sourcing of newly designed products, Support to execute Supply chain strategies, cost reduction, supply continuity and sourcing decisions.  

Primary Responsibility:
Responsible for initiating & managing RFQs assigned by internal stakeholders & their timely closure. 
Able to utilize existing supplier matrix for quoting, award business to suppliers.
Able to understand should cost (Cost estimation) & support negotiations based on Target costs.
Drive dual source of critical parts by Part qualifications at different levels.
Able to work on Lead times – identifying Long Lead time Items, making Strategies for LT Mitigations, LT Validation, and periodic maintenance. 
Understand Inventory Management program for LT reduction.
Collaborate with suppliers & cross-functional teams for timely closure of Sourcing requests assigned by internal stakeholders. 
Ability to understand multi-level BOM, read drawings, special process/ specifications and communicate with suppliers.
Understand need of part localization and drive the program.
Should understand strategic sourcing & procurement (P2P process). 

Qualification & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) with 4 to 6 years of overall experience into sourcing, Procurement, program management and supplier management.

Job Specific skills/Knowledge (Mandatory):

• Should have prior Procurement, negotiation, dual sourcing, and supplier management experience.
• Proficient with MS Office. Excel is a must
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods & commodities as related to product and cost structure.
• Ability to read and interpret BOM’s.
• Must be self-starter and be able to operate independent of day-to-day supervision.
• Must be organized and sincere towards work and timely closure of requests.
• Proficiency in Communication.

Other Skills (Good to have):

• Knowledge of SAP MM Module.
• Have worked with cross functional team 
• Able to interpret drawings. 
• Have worked with global suppliers.
