Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)
AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.
AWS Solutions Architects serve as trusted advisors to our customers, helping them solve complex business challenges by designing and recommending some of the most scalable, flexible and resilient solutions in the world.
Working closely with internal teams at AWS, you will identify how our customers are pushing the boundaries of technology and how we can improve our services to better meet their evolving needs. As a thought leader, you will create and present content that empowers our customers to scale and grow in innovative ways, using AWS Services as the building blocks.
In this role, you will partner with customers at all stages of their cloud journey - from those just beginning to embrace the cloud, to more advanced users seeking to further optimize and expand their cloud footprint. Regardless of their starting point, you will play a critical part in helping them achieve their growth ambitions through the thoughtful application of AWS services and solutions.
You will challenge traditional thinking and push the boundaries of what’s possible. You will identify ways for our customers and AWS to innovate beyond what we they think is possible. Key job responsibilities
As an AWS Solutions Architect, you will:
•          Scope and own customer engagements, with attention towards clear and well-defined objectives and success criteria.
•          Work backwards from your customer’s business needs to accelerate adoption of the most appropriate AWS technology
•       Define and execute on the strategy by engaging highly technical teams (Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, AWS professional services consultants and consulting/managed services partners).
•          Act as a thought leader in the wider community, playing a key role in educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers, blogs, and running workshops.
•          Share the voice of the customer to influence the roadmap of new features and services for the AWS platform. Proactively work within the organisation to influence the evolution of the platform.
•          Influence decision makers across multiple domains to ensure customer’s success in building applications and services on the AWS platform which align to long-term business goals.

A day in the life
Your day begins by staying on top of the latest cloud innovations and product updates. You then dive into a consultation with a key customer, leveraging your deep technical expertise to architect a scalable, high-performance solution that aligns with their business objectives and growth plans. Collaborating closely with internal teams, you finalize the implementation roadmap. In the afternoon, you lead an interactive workshop for a group of AWS partners, sharing best practices, code samples, and real-world case studies to address their specific challenges. Reviewing customer feedback, you identify opportunities to influence the future roadmap of AWS services. Before wrapping up, you tackle outstanding action items and schedule follow-up meetings with customers in your pipeline.

We are a Solutions Architect team operating on the “lean startup” principles. We relentlessly work backwards from the customer, driven by a deep obsession to understand and solve their most pressing challenges. Embracing quick experimentation and validation, we guide customers on a transformative journey. We’re not afraid to “fail fast” and learn from our mistakes.
We love solving problems and use a lean, iterative approach to drive impactful breakthroughs.
- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 7+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
