Solution Architect, Solution Engineering (DB2 Administrator) Pune, India

In this role you will be responsible to ensure databases run efficiently.


Role Responsibilities


  • To manage highly available and scalable on-prem DB2 databases.
  • Good knowledge and experience on Database administration with IBM DB2, IBM MQ, and other HADR Solutions.
  • Administering database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering, L2 support and other infrastructure teams and provide technical definition, design, and creation of database environments.
  • Ensure Databases are highly available, scalable, and performant by eliminating unplanned downtimes, performance bottle necks, and manage parameters.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Advise developers for best practice, rollout implementation support. Implement fix packs and security patches when required.
  • Design and execute large scale database patching, upgrades and migrations including OnPrem and in Cloud.
  • Experienced with Performance Expert and OPM (Optimal Performance Manager), and other DB2 tools.
  • Monitor production databases and dbm settings, adjusting for optimal performance and throughput.
  • Setup & Migrate database with latest version with zero downtime & optimal performance.
  • Mentor team member and eager to learn new technology and cross skills.
  • Knowledge in AIX/Linux platform & Cloud Migration.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills:  Database performance tuning, issue resolutions, on-going replication issues.
  • Database deployment automation knowledge.
  • Maintaining database dictionaries and documents Job Control Language (JCL), SQL, Perl and shell scripts and batch processes.
  • Reviewing project requests and determining rough order of magnitude estimate of time and cost required to accomplish scope.

Role Requirements


  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing large scale database operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with DB2 LUW Database administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with AIX, Linux.
  • Large scale DB2 Database architecture for HA, DR.
  • Proficient in shell scripting (bash, kshell, cshell, python, perl).
  • Proficient with configuration management and automation (Ansible).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors.
  • Willing to work off-hours/on-call to handle incidents and escalations.
  • Proven project management skills.
