We are looking for Software Management Professional

The objective of the Software Management Professional is to organize and oversee the integration process of all software components, including diagnostics, into the overall (vehicle) SW. This includes recording, acknowledging, and disclosing any instances where the software is dependent on specific hardware/firmware versions, ensuring proper notification to relevant supplies.

Additionally, the Software Management Professional is responsible for supplying a software schedule to the overall scheduling authority and defining the content of vehicle/train releases, including the necessary components. It is important to note that while the Software Management Professional plays a critical role in these processes, they do not assume responsibility for the correct functioning and effect of component and service software. The primary responsibility for software function remains with the relevant Lead Designer.

You’ll make a difference by

  • Determine the maturity level of the overall software, particularly relevant for upcoming PM and MF milestones, and include it in the overall project progress reports.
  • Collaborate with Lead Designers to gather information on SW/relevant engineering milestones and data from ticket management systems (e.g., Redmine, Polarion, Testlink).
  • Organize the process of software provision for vehicles and simulations/laboratories, ensuring that SW deliveries correspond to the intended use.
  • Manage release planning, software configuration for train release, interfaces for certification, engineering, plants, commissioning, safety, and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with agreements in place with external software suppliers under master and project contracts.
  • Take appropriate steps to verify compliance with provisions outlined in agreements with external software suppliers.
  • Liaise closely with the Project Manager, Technical Manager, and relevant interface partners such as PSC teams, deadline manager, design engineer, and other relevant interface partners as described in the Siemens Project -Management guide.
  • Ensure the timely provision of a verified overall software of a vehicle project, including land-based IT systems for commissioning, homologation, and customer handover according to the respective project phase.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in software management, preferably in rolling stock projects or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of version maintenance, software integration, software configuration management, and archiving processes.
  • Familiarity with SAP software and its application in managing software across versions.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and determine the maturity level of software and its impact on project milestones.
  • Proficiency in using ticket management systems such as Redmine, Polarion, and Testlink.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage software provision and ensure compliance with external supplier agreements.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
