Software Engineer, PayPal Growth Markets Engineering
A customer focused, hands-on Java engineer, responsible for designing, implementing and delivering state of the art payments solutions for Growth markets of PayPal. The ideal candidate is an individual with experience building software systems by engaging across the full software lifecycle, from system design and development of system backend components. Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, positive work ethic and a collaborative mindset are key to the success of this role.
The prospective candidate will be an individual contributor working with various cross functional groups (product teams, lead engineers and various engineering teams) and will require admirable collaboration skills. The role would involve building new and emerging payments platforms and experiences for PayPal’s hyper growth markets, that would redefine how customers of PayPal pay and get paid.

In your day to day role you will


  • Develops efficient, elegant, clean, reusable code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction.
  • Deliver quality solutions on schedule.
  • Works with business partners to understand the requirements and develop elegant reusable solutions/code.
  • Create / Review well-articulated, detailed low level design documents.
  • Presents issues and solutions to audiences of varying sizes. Provides recognized technical and business leadership and can provide deep technical support across a range of functionality.
  • Manages workload and other assignments efficiently while being able to resolve time-critical situations reliably and professionally.
  • Participates in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity.

What do you need to bring-


  • CS or other relevant technical degree required with 2 to 6 years of experience
  • Expertise in Java with an understanding of advanced development concepts, OOP, and design patterns, Angular/React Frameworks and RESTful Web Services
  • Proven expertise in Node.js, having developed multiple solutions
  • Strong front-end UI development for web-based applications (HTML, CSS, JQuery, etc.)
  • Strong relational database design, including SQL Server and Oracle Server (stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, etc.).
  • Understanding of application security best practices and vulnerability prevention
  • Knowledge in Generative AI, exposure to LLM are advantage
  • Expertise with Agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, ability to engage diverse group of stakeholders and drive long running programs with far reaching changes
  • Strong ability to organize & coordinate activities across geographically spread teams and ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent planning, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills necessary to establish standards and implement complex plans
  • Exposure to Sales Force application and Quality Assurance is a plus
  • Exposure to Legal Domain is a plus.
