Software Engineer III - SPARTA - ETL Developer

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset & Wealth Management Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Being a self-starter, able to take initiative and drive a program independently
• Provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs
• Utilize agile methodologies and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques while contributing to the technical code documentation
• Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations
• Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects concurrently
• Design, develop, code, test, debug and document
• Work closely with clients to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes
• Research and evaluate solutions and make recommendations.
• Continuous integration, build and automated deployment
• Refactoring, clean code, code reviews and mentoring
• Building real and lasting relationships with your team and extended partners

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of experience the field of ETL development.
• Prior experience working at a large tier global financial institution. 
• Knowledge of Trading systems and Financial Services, with an emphasis on the buy side.
• Demonstrated analytical techniques and ability to make recommendations to technical and program leadership to improve the product, process or technology and present ideas clearly and concisely. 
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues in an easy to understand manner.
• Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues.
• Expertise in Test Driven Development/ Behavior Driven Development
• Strong background on Pentaho ETL developments with large volumes of data set.
• Strong on SQL, Databases, Stored Procedures (Sybase , Oracle, MS-SQL Server)
• Good on performance tuning optimization with database.
• Development experience with any one of the programming language (Javascript, Java).

Preferred skills: 

• Knowledge or experience in  Cloud Foundry or AWS, Star Schema, Multidimensional Cube, Schema Workbench, Custom plug-in development for Pentaho ETL, Data Lake.
• Big data processing using Hadoop or Apache Spark.
• Knowledge of NoSql technologies (e.g. Hbase, Cassandra, Hadoop), and experience in Database SQL, PL/SQL.
• Experience with building and supporting Pentaho ETL applications.
• Understanding of the Private Banking business , and understanding of Equities, Fixed Income, Mutual Funds, Derivatives, and FX, and Alternative Investment products
