How You will Contribute:


Contribute to software design and delivery to incorporate carrier class attributes through the design of Control plane Protocols  - BGP/MPLS/IP Routing - features and system functions.


• Drive and participate in software design, development, validation, and defect correction activities to deliver functionally excellent products to Ciena’s customers.


• Provide support to peer teams, customer-facing groups and serve as technical reviewer of software release documentation.


Roles and Responsibilities


• Proficient in C programming in a real-time embedded Linux environment.


• Desirable: Exposure to IP Routing protocols (BGP,IGP,IP routing concepts), and exposure to Routing and switching Product development


• Ability to take initiative independently and to innovate as part of a team, demonstrating good judgment in identifying and evaluating alternative approaches to address business and technical challenges.


• Ability to interact effectively with multi-functional teams and to work across geographies and time zones.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Participate in backlog defect reduction. Write scripts, test utilities, and other development tools. Lead Meetings and Brainstorming sessions.


Must Haves / Required Experience–


• 0-4 years of relevant software development experience.


• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related subject area.


• Strong Programming capabilities in C/C++.


• Familiarity with product cycles and deployment requirements for carrier-class products in a Service Provider customer environment.


• Independent self-starter and a standout colleague, committed to delivering quality results in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
