Amazon, in partnership with Whole Foods Market, is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead transformative technology solutions for distribution centers. This role presents an opportunity to build and lead a new team in Bangalore that will revolutionize grocery retail supply-chain operations through innovative native AWS based solutions.
Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Manager, you will independently establish a self-sustaining two-pizza team in Bangalore to develop and deliver innovative solutions for Whole Foods distribution centers, transforming the grocery retail experience. You'll own the 1-3 year technical roadmap and vision, building systems that solve both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic challenges. As this is a greenfield initiative, you'll architect and build solutions from the ground up while ensuring your team operates autonomously and maintains strong partnerships with global stakeholders.
With that background, in this role you will:
• Build and lead a high-performing two-pizza team in Bangalore from the ground up
• Design and implement scalable team processes that enable autonomous operation while maintaining global alignment
• Drive technical excellence through architecture reviews, design standards, and engineering best practices
• Own strategic architectural decisions that shape both team and product-wide technical direction
• Build strong partnerships with product teams, stakeholders, and technical leaders across global locations
• Implement and maintain SLA-driven operational excellence and quality standards
• Establish data-driven mechanisms to measure and improve team health, velocity, and delivery quality
• Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency through innovative technical solutions
• Mentor and develop technical talent, creating an inclusive environment that fosters innovation and growth
About the team
This team will be part of Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Store Technology (WWGST) organization, specifically within Grocery Supply Chain (GSC). GSC builds and operates mission-critical forecasting and purchasing systems that power the entire procurement lifecycle for Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market businesses worldwide.
- Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
