Buying Experience’s (BuyX) vision is to provide the world’s best product and offer evaluation experience for shoppers world-wide. Our Detail Page is the product showroom in the “everything store”, our reach and impact uniquely positions us to innovate on behalf of our customers. We set the vision, processes and mechanisms for the showroom, enabling hundreds of partners to tailor shopper experience across geographies, intents, missions, products and businesses; while ensuring a cohesive, lovable shopping experience.
To achieve this vision, BuyX works across five primary charters and one of it is the Featured Merchant Algorithm (FMA), an algorithm that stimulates competition among sellers and programs while selecting the best-value offers to customers. Our team owns the model which picks the offer that customers view on the Offers Display on the Detail page and the customer experience around the display of the offer price and the elements surrounding the 'Add to Cart' button which inform a purchase decision. We pick and display offers several billion times a day across all surfaces (mobile app, mobile web, desktop, Alexa shopping) worldwide.
Buying Options Analytics (BOA) team under FMA logs Glance Views and Featured Offer ranking decisions from Detail Page, managing ~1 Petabyte of data across three datasets, which is leveraged by our clients for model training and evaluation purposes, reporting P0 metrics in leadership reviews, and performing Offer funnel analysis. We’re looking for a software development engineer to design and implement the next generation logging and data lake architecture which provides decision making towards the best shopping customer experience. Amazon teams utilize these real-time data sets to generate business metrics relating to competitive pricing, and inputs into new ML models which continuously improve the customer experience across Amazon. Our data lake stores and processes billions of records and multiple terabytes of data daily. This role will partner with Big Data Technology teams within Amazon to build out comprehensive data sets which meet data compliance standards. Users of Buying Options Analytics will benefit from seamless discovery, identification, query and joining of datasets using Amazon standard tool sets as well as AWS products (e.g. EMR, Athena).
