Job Description


Summary:


As a Software Architect for Rockwell Automation, you will design industry-leading commercial software, known for its innovation and usability. You will also perform basic software testing tasks including test planning, scheduling, and execution. You will be involved in subsystem design, implementation, and testing, working with the support of our senior engineers. You will play an active role in all the stages of the development lifecycle and support your team throughout the process. You will also help ensure that developed products meet requirements and are within total quality management standards.


You will collaborate with multiple global teams. We are looking for someone who will use from a diverse set of technical backgrounds and opinions by encouraging a team-oriented environment and the use of open and direct communications, and respect. You will also seek knowledge of new developments in the software engineering, computer engineering, and test automation fields and will identify and pursue career training opportunities.


You are an experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialisation and an ability to resolve wide range of issues in creative ways.


You will report to the Software Engineering Manager and is located in Pune


Your Responsibilities:
  • Independently gather and documents requirements for a feature and its components, ensuring the information required to develop software and corresponding test cases are contained in the specifications. - Contributes to architectural design and independently develops system designs that meet the requirements.
  • Provide estimates for the design. Consider tradeoffs between requirements, speed, cost and reliability in the choice of a design approach. - Implements and documents code that meets the requirements of the software design. - Develops unit test plans. Reports anomalies. Take the lead in the integration of other components by solving problems within subsystems to produce a final product. Responsibilities may extend to the technical management of the design, testing and integration of other engineers' work in related areas. -
  • Lead reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation. - Typically responsible for the ongoing maintenance and integrity of several software subsystems. - Builds relationships and works with peers to ensure assigned tasks are prioritised.
  • Think outside the box and be willing to research and explore new avenues by using the latest technologies and standards. May function as a go-to person for a technology, software methodology, or other area of expertise.
  • Take the lead on identifying and recommending software development capability improvements in software development practices and development tools - communicates and conveys design concepts and understand complex control system concepts.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent - At least 12 years of experience in a software product development environment .
  • Knowledge and working experience in client/server, distributed or web-based environment using enterprise Java, Spring Framework, RESTful APIs/Microservices and Web Technologies - Proficiency in JavaScript (libraries like Jquery, Backbone.js),Node.js, Angular framework , High availability, performance and scalability, micro services, SOA, modern database architectures, automated test systems, rapid prototyping, experience of taking concept to product, Web technologies, security, data communication, and contemporary user interface technologies -
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current standards in software engineering In-depth knowledge of databases & ETL (graphQL) especially SQL server, PostgreSQL.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Knowledge of Data Analytics tools & practices is must (ML knowledge and experience will be preferred) - Agile scrum delivery experience - Experience with continuous integration practices (Jenkins etc.)
  • Experience with selecting and using right Open Source project/library/tool - Software development on both Windows and Linux .
  • Technical team leadership - Direct experience with design patterns and architecting modular software - Direct experience with the Industrial Automation industry is desired - Direct experience collaborating with local and global technical development teams.
