Job Description

In this role, you'll be joining our D&A Technical Service as Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for Quants as a Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of ingestion processing systems and cloud application & services. You will be responsible for and delivery of subsets of licensed data to each of our client bases using in-house software. This role also involves taking database backup/restore, application installation & configuration, system maintenance and solve, DB failover, cluster failover and DR failover, automation etc. Interacting with the software, monitoring the application process and logs, handling issues or calling out issues to the respective team. The role requires a meticulous person who can follow through on instructions, adapt as needed while working in a heavy multi-tasking and fast-paced.


Would be required to work on shifts according to the roster. Out of hours support, overnight and across weekends and bank holidays as well. Should be able to provide on-call support.


They need to be domain experts in the underlying technologies used by the applications. They may be required to provide detailed technical support for developers producing bug fixes & new releases of these applications.


Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritize feature work.


Key Responsibilities


Support of the LSEG Quants & Feeds application.


Support of a critical element of the Quant deliver.


  • Work on various ingestion process, cloud applications, identify and resolve issues, ensuring feed delivery as per SLA and system availability.
  • Resolve Incidents and Problems
    • Fix and resolve ingestion failures, raising issues to appropriate teams when vital.
    • Monitor ServiceNow for Incidents and Problems
    • Analyse problems and decide on suitable resolutions
    • Apply resolutions following the Quant Change Management procedure
    • Report status to relevant business and IT teams
    • Record progress of incident resolution in ServiceNow
    • Follow documented incident management procedures
  • Bug fixes and enhancements to Quant applications and products
    • Collaborate with development teams to understand ingestion job requirements and optimize scheduling parameters for efficiency.
    • Develop and maintain job scheduling standards, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency and alignment to standard processes.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to prioritise and optimize system performance for ingestion processing workloads.
    • Stay on top of industry trends and advancements on technologies, recommending changes to improve system reliability and performance.
    • Design solutions for longer term fixes for bugs and minor functionality enhancement requests
    • Implement fixes
    • Update code repository with source code changes where necessary
    • Update relevant Confluence/ documentation with changes
    • Co-ordinate the Release process for new releases
    • Work to the ITIL standard following Quant policies
  • Building and supporting environments
  • Maintain working relationship with Customer Support, Compliance, Development, Quality, and proposition
  • Should be willing to work on shift based 24x7 as per roster
  • Out of hours support / On-call support
    • Be available for overnight support of production services to ensure successful completion of processing
    • Respond to overnight calls and deal with issues
    • Support weekend releases and maintenance work
  • Consultancy
    • Provide consultancy during bug fixes, design and implementation
    • Act as domain experts for Quant applications
  • Assist in project related work
    • Carry out requirements as defined by project team
  • Quality check potential changes
    • Review development release packages prior to production deployment
    • Provide benefit of experience in the business area and application

PERSON SPECIFICATION


Education:


  • Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a technical field

Required skills and experience:


  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and methodologies 
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a Team or similar role, preferably in a financial services environment.
  • Experience of deploying via Jenkins, Pipelining in Gitlab and running batches in Cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Good knowledge of DevOps and its related Technologies: CI/CD, Jenkins, Python, Terraform
  • Good Windows/Linux System Administration skills
  • Excellent SQL skills (MS\Oracle SQL)
  • Good Scripting skills (Shell scripting, Python)
  • Hands-on in version control repository/Deployment (Ideally bitbucket, GitLab)
  • Experience in Service Now
  • Experience with Risk and Application/Development Teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
  • Good communication and social skills, to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplines.
  • Willing to embrace Hybrid working mode and work in Bangalore Office
  • Good to have ITIL or Azure/AWS certification
  • Experience in Financial or an Investment Banking environment
  • Knowledge of software life cycle
  • Familiarity with financial products and financial terms
  • Excellent analytical skills, Attention to Detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid technical background in the core technologies with several years of experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to IT, business teams and to senior management
  • Strong negotiation / influencing skills able to overcome resistance and reach consensus and compromise in order to attain the required objective.
