Department
You will be part of Manufacturing Operation-India, Global Supply Chain, Cement who supports Capital and Service for Materials, Warehouse & Logistics. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and different challenges. This department works closely with both our internal and external customers to ensure FLSmidth equipment’s on time delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be located in the Arakkonam plant.
Role
Shop Floor Engineer role at Arakkonam plays a crucial role in the manufacturing, ensuring that assembly operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position is pivotal for maintaining the quality and timely production of products.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan, monitor, and control production activities to meet daily/weekly production targets.
- Coordinate workflow and material movement between workstations.
- Optimize processes for efficient utilization of resources, including labor, machinery, and materials.
- Identify and resolve quality issues on the shop floor in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
- Implement corrective actions to address recurring quality problems.
- Monitor the performance of machinery and equipment, ensuring proper functioning.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Analyse manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Suggest and implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to streamline operations.
- Provide guidance and technical support to shop floor personnel.
- Conduct training sessions to improve the skills and efficiency of the workforce.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as Design, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and address hazards promptly.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that assembly operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Adheres to production schedules and coordinates with material requirements.
- Provides input to optimal condition for equipment needed for the production process
- Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities.
What you bring
- Proven experience in shop floor supervision or a related role.
- Experience with metalworking, fabrication, and assembly processes specific to cement process machinery (e.g., welding, machining, Blasting & Painting).
- Proficiency in using CAD/CAM/SOLID WORKS software and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Education Qualification
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
3-5 years in a production or manufacturing role, preferably in the cement machinery or heavy equipment industry.
