Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Windows systems and automation Engineer to provide expert-level engineering
/Consulting services & support to our (internal) clients. As part of a global Windows Engineering team, you will work on a project basis, collaborating with
our internal clients to assess, design, implement, support and optimize Windows-based systems and infrastructure. Your in-depth knowledge of Windows systems and strong problem-solving skills will be crucial in delivering effective solutions and ensuring the smooth operation of Northern Trusts (NT)
Windows environments.
Responsibilities:
Consult with internal clients to understand their business objectives and technical requirements related to Windows systems & services.
Design, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud infrastructure using technologies like Azure, AWS, VMware, and Hyper-V.
Design and architect Windows-based solutions that align with Northern Trusts' needs and industry best practices - robust, secure, reliable,
scalable, recoverable, maintainable & supportable.
Perform comprehensive assessments of existing Windows infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networking components.
Migrate on-premises workloads to Azure, ensuring seamless transition and optimized performance.
Manage and administer Azure AD, Azure VMs, Azure Storage, and other relevant services.
Automate & maintain infrastructure provisioning, patching, configuration management, and deployment processes using tools like Ansible, Chef,
Terraform and PowerShell.
Automate & maintain BAU tasks and processes
Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient and reliable software delivery.
Implement and maintain robust security protocols to ensure data protection and compliance.
Monitor and troubleshoot hybrid cloud environments, identifying and resolving performance issues proactively.
Secure and harden hybrid cloud infrastructure, implementing best practices for access control, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and sysadmins to understand application requirements and translate them into
effective cloud solutions.
Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in cloud technologies and DevOps practices.
Participate in knowledge sharing and mentoring activities to help junior team members grow their skills.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Windows DevOps Engineer or related role.
In-depth knowledge of Windows Server administration and management.
Strong understanding of hybrid cloud concepts and technologies.
Windows Server operating systems: Proficiency in the installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting and a deep understanding of
Windows Server operating systems (2012/2016/2019/2022), including their features, functions, and capabilities.
Windows Patching : Windows End to end patching process and methodology. Strong understanding of SCCM Architecture and troubleshooting
for all Patch related /task sequence administration. Can assist in a SCCM design and implementation.
Active Directory: You should have extensive knowledge of Active Directory, including its architecture, management, and deployment.
Group Policy ( GPO) : You should be proficient in managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and using them to enforce policies, standards, and
settings across a Windows environment.
Experience with Azure AD Connect or similar synchronization tools.
Experience with Azure Sentinel, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor
Experience with disaster/cyber recovery and business continuity planning.
Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Terraform or PowerShell.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and methodologies.
Excellent knowledge of Windows security best practices.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex Windows-related issues
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Azure, AWS, and/or VMware.
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with security best practices for cloud environments.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
Experience with Git and version control systems.
