ABOUT THE ROLE
The Marketing Technology & Data Team is a Center of Excellence who is responsible for the design, development and execution of the digital, platform and data strategy. This includes the management of the Nielsen corporate website which is used to empower Nielsen audiences with value through content, insights and solutions. 
Nielsen is seeking a Senior Website developer who will report to the Director of Web Development. As a Senior Web Developer, you will be responsible for leading and executing complex web projects to meet the growing needs and objectives of the business. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing complex WordPress websites, process strong technical skills and be able to lead projects from conception to completion. 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Design, analyze, and document web applications across multiple project teams and applications.
  • Investigate and analyze verbal and written requests for web applications, interpreting requirements to construct highly complex applications.
  • Implement responsive and mobile-first design principles. 
  • Write technical documentation for routines and applications, facilitating their maintenance.
  • Construct, test, install, and maintain web applications.
  • Develop highly complex full-stack code, which is maintainable, easy to use, and satisfies application requirements.
  • Develop and execute application test plans, analyze test results, and make appropriate revisions to ensure the applications function as specified.
  • Contribute to the planning for acceptance testing and implementation of new software, performing supporting activities to ensure that customers have the information and assistance they need for a successful implementation.
  • Provide leadership and participates on project teams.
  • Provide input to the work project plan, perform a technical review of applications and peers’ work, and develop proposals for improvements.
  • Provide support to internal users and support staff.
  • Investigate application incidents for missing or incorrect functionality.
  • Assess incident resolution and estimate application changes.
  • Apply resolutions, leading to timely, error-free revisions in applications.
  • Research assess and facilitate the adoption of new technologies.
  • Perform configuration management tasks.
  • Ensure applications’ components are archived in common repositories according to IT standards with appropriate documentation that reflects the progression from development to implementation.
  • Work with and in some instances provides work direction to our vendor partners.
  • Work collaboratively with website designers, product manager and web strategist to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Integrate third-party services, API’s (SAP, PayPal, Stripe) and platforms to Wordpress to meet growing needs of the business.
  • Implement security best practices to mitigate risks and protect Nielsen.com from vulnerabilities.
  • Stay updated with the latest WordPress trends, tools and technologies, introducing new technologies and methodologies when beneficial

SKILLS REQUIRED


  • 5+ years experience in modern WordPress development.
  • Experienced in Gutenberg Block development, custom plugin creation, FSE block theme, and WordPress API integration.
  • Strong PHP skills with expertise in frameworks, OOP, and database management.
  • Experience with React.js and Alpine.js for frontend development.
  • Nice to have expertise in eCommerce / WooCommerce development (themes, plugins, APIs)Proficient with NodeJS and creating/maintaining REST API.
  • Experience in maintaining Dataviz systems integrating Google Sheets, WordPress REST API, and Chart.js, ensuring seamless data visualization and scalability.
  • Experience with Google Cloud, Apps Script, and AWS is a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Version control and continuous integration using tools such as Github, CircleCI.
  • Knowledge of website accessibility standards
