Job Description 

The Compliance Surveillance Lead - India is a key role to support the ASP Head of Surveillance.The role has broad responsibilities for supporting implementation and management with guidance from INM Head of Regulatory Conduct (RC), Compliance Advisory and Business Non-Financial Risk teams (NFR) on all aspects of surveillance for the applicable INM Businesses, including oversight over the surveillance and transaction framework,investigation and trend analysis of trade and communication surveillance, regulatory changes, managing regulatory risk assessment, assessing conduct risks, providing compliance advisory, and driving and execution of the various Regulatory Conduct work streams and assurance for applicable business in INM, while ensuring alignment with Global Standards.

The role requires strong partnership with the various lines of business and leadership teams, which are the Markets & Securities Services, Global Banking, GTRF, GPS, CMB covering all major assets classes and balance sheet management. Due to the global/ regional aspects of the business model, the role also requires active collaboration with business and Compliance teams within the Country, Region and Group.

The role will also provide a second line of defense assurance to local management and Regional Compliance by assisting in the planning and execution of a risk-based compliance surveillance program and conduct such reviews and surveillance (where required), and duly escalate any material regulatory breaches, incidents or exceptions noted to the ASP Head of Surveillance.  

Principal Accountabilities:Key activities and decision-making areas

Impact on the Business / Function

• Provide oversight and support over transaction and surveillance framework, including the design, enhancement, and implementation aspects.
• Assist in identify Compliance risks and performing compliance risk assessments.
• Monitor regulatory change developments and potential impact of regulatory change on the applicable line of business in INM in terms of surveillance
• Perform and support conduct Surveillance risk and control assessments
• Assist in providing training to create compliance awareness including on thematic issues
• Reviews and assist in carrying out the effective deployment of the Surveillance Operating Model for INM
• Provide advice on surveillance matters to the Risk Owners and Risk Stewards where required.
• Review new product approvals and any new business initiatives where surveillance controls are required.
• Assist to maintain regulatory relationships

Customers / Stakeholders 

• Liaise/engage with relevant stakeholders as well as other Global Business and Functions in India to provide expertise and support on respective Surveillance related matters
• Ensure the appropriate timely and relevant risk information is provided to Business management, in-country management and Compliance management in India and Region 

Leadership & Teamwork 

• Strong communication and working relationship within other Compliance teams, other Risk Disciplines, Functions and Global Businesses to ensure implementation of new disciplines.
• Share best practice with other business lines.

Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with business managers at the Global and Country levels.

Functional and Entity Manager:This role will report functionally to the ASP Surveillance Head and on an entity basis to the Head Regulatory Conduct, India.
