About the job


The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our Migration and Modernization Solutions (MMS) documentation team. In this role, you will be part of a team that promotes customer loyalty and success through content development and delivery. You will create and be responsible for customer-facing technical documentation for Red Hat products on the customer portal. Drawing from your passion for technology and communication, you will work closely with developers, engineers, field teams, and other subject matter experts to create content that helps our customers find the best solutions for their needs.


What you will do?


  • Work closely with content strategists, engineering teams, support teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain accurate, high-quality documentation for product releases


  • Effectively manage documentation and deliver customer-focused, goal-oriented documentation


  • Respond to customer feedback to address content gaps and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience


  • Keep up to date on changes to our offerings, customer use cases, support issues, and business strategy


  • Provide feedback to other technical writers to improve the quality and consistency of our content 


  • Learn to use our documentation toolchain, versioning systems, and issue-tracking tools


What you will bring?


  • Experience with software and documentation development life cycles


  • Experience writing accessible, usable documentation


  • Experience with version control systems


  • Experience with topic-based authoring


  • Experience using a writing style guide


The following are considered a plus: 


  • Experience with lightweight markup languages including AsciiDoc or reStructuredText (RST)


  • Experience using a writing style guide


  • Familiarity with agile software development


  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Git


  • Experience with script development or automation
