As part of the Converse Technology Operations (Tech Ops) and Infrastructure team, you will work with and support our Converse Technology support, product and engineering teams, helping them build and maintain observability and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) capabilities. You will partner closely with the global Converse Tech Ops and Nike Observability teams to define and implement standards tools and processes. This role includes also local oversight and management of India based Converse Technology Operations engineering and support resources, providing guidance and mentorship in close coordination with the global functional leaders.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Supervisor for Observability and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead a small, dynamic team at Converse. The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 5+ years of experience with observability and SRE type activities, with some experience leading directly or indirectly the work through others.
Hands-on experience working with and delivering observability capabilities using industry-standard tools such as Cloud Watch, Splunk (including formerly SignalFx), SolarWinds, New Relic, DataDog and Catchpoint.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and succinctly to various stakeholders, including those outside of the infrastructure domain. You should be able to speak tech fluently but also translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
A strategic mindset with the ability to continue building and enhancing the observability and SRE practice at Converse.
A passion for data analysis and visualization.
A collaborative approach to support teams using or onboarding observability tools and practices.
The ability to lead and contribute to build the local Converse Technology Operations internal and external workforce, working closely with global functional leads to ensure alignment and efficiency.
As the Senior Supervisor for Observability and SRE, you will play a critical role in building, shaping and advancing our observability and SRE practices. Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and executing the observability strategy to ensure robust monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities across Converse applications and infrastructure.
Implementing hands on new monitoring, logging, alerting and automation capabilities through prioritization of observability intake and backlog.
Leading and mentoring a small team of observability and SRE professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Supporting various product and engineering teams within the organization in their use of observability tools, providing guidance and best practices to enhance their monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities.
Collaborating and communicating with global functional leads to align local Technology Operations efforts with broader organizational goals and initiatives.
Driving the adoption of observability practices across the organization, ensuring that all teams have the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively monitor and maintain their systems.
Take inventory of current observability tools and practices, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
Staying current with Nike standards, industry trends and advancements in observability and SRE, and applying this knowledge to continuously improve our practices and tools.
Participating in the development of Converse SRE practice for activities such as capacity planning, incident response, after action reviews.
