Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack (JAVA, ReactJS, AWS)

We are seeking a strong and experienced full stack engineer with the specific expertise to be described below.
The successful candidate would have a proven background in driving, creating and delivering AWS-based backend design and development & frontend, specifically ReactJs .
The role is responsible to maintain existing and build new features (systems and logic) using AWS cloud based services per Business requests. This role is integral to designing, implementing and optimizing cloud based, advanced software solutions on the server-side. The successful candidate will work with an End-to-End environment which interacts with upstream and downstream clients. The candidate will provide guidance to junior members. The candidate must demonstrate and expand the use of best practices with development, cost control, monitoring, continuous integration and unit testing to drive increased development efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the responsibility for the execution of specific projects or definable portions of larger projects.
• Architect, design and continue enhancing the team’s back-end collection and processing systems in AWS.
• Architect, design and build scalable, reliable, cost effective, and high quality solutions in AWS.
• Design and develop user interface for Nielsen’s mobile digital and audio measurement applications using React.
• Design and develop server-side, web-based assets, using React.
• Be part of the planning and specification authoring for feature development.
• Provide technical guidance to junior software developers and devops and coordinate technical activities in collaboration with leads and product owners.
• Develop and oversee the development of software precisely meeting specifications.
• Monitor performance and advise any necessary infrastructure changes.
• Drive system architecture and software development within the team of developers through delivery and successful deployment to production.
• Drive alignment between this team and all downstream users of the data output generated by this platform.
• Engage and collaborate with other areas and stakeholders within our org such as Mobile developers, Backend developers, Testers, Devops and Support team.
• Suggest and implement best practices that can be used by the developers and devops.

Key Skills

• 5+ years of proven experience in software development using Java, Scala.
• Proven experience with web-based user interface development using ReactJS.
• Background with NodeJS is strongly desired.
• Programming skills in Python is a plus.
• Strong networking background and understanding of HTTP/S
• Demonstrated experience in AWS, EMR, Serverless architecture.
• Good knowledge on Apache Spark and its ecosystem.
• Strong background in AWS Cloud services, including: EMR cluster configuration and optimization, Storage solutions (S3, DynamoDB, RDS), Microservices architecture (Lambda, API Gateway), Notification services (SNS, SQS), Logging (Cloudwatch).
• Experience in Agile software development methodology.
• Experience in source control like Git.
• Direct experience in establishing and setting up successful production CI/CD pipelines and workflows, GitLab CI preferred.
• Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze problems and develop actionable and appropriate tactical plans quickly with commitment to excellence.
• Understanding of rule-based processing and decision making systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
