What You'll Do

Here is an excellent opportunity to join Cisco's Distributed Software Engineering [DSE] business unit , where you will be working on next generation data center products that enable large scale, low-latency, high speed networks. You will also be working on switching solutions, better equipping customers to handle growing workloads.



You have a unique opportunity to be part of the product development from ground up (Platforms and Software). You would be part of a dynamic testing team which works hand-in-hand with development team as a cohesive unit to deliver world class quality products. You will have ownership of multiple components and play an important role in understanding new feature requirements, developing test design based on functional specifications, automating them and engaging with customers. You will be interacting with peer engineers / technical leaders within the BU on design/functional and architectural aspects of features and components across Cisco products. As a software QA engineer in this group, you will be responsible for testing, automating & enabling platform/software solutions for customers. You will also have an exciting time working on the Storage Area Network along with Ethernet for Cisco's product line.



Who You’ll Work With

Data Center Networking Group develops the Nexus 9000 line of data center and cloud switches that feature application awareness to make the network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs and virtual machine workload mobility. Data Center also developed a 400G, 800G Ethernet transceiver crafted to drastically lower the optics price to out compete the competitor offerings.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with Customers, Product Marketing, Hardware and Software groups and delivering the products.



Experience/Who you are:

Who you are?



  • B.E/B.Tech/ME/Mtech/MS from reputed university and at least 8-12 years of software development experience in embedded systems or system software space
  • Deep Linux Kernel design and implementation knowledge
  • Must have worked on multiple Kernel subsystems (scheduling, tasks, memory, network, crypto, file system, etc.)
  • Understanding of the Intel CPU architecture and x86 instruction set
  • Understanding of the compiler and build tools
  • At ease with the Kernel mode debugging
  • Experience working with Yocto Project, sysroot, rootfs, toolchain, kernel, KLMs, patches and CVEs
  • SOC SW development experience
  • Knowledge of the L2 protocols
Preferred Skills
  • Virtualization, Docker, Kubernetes etc
  • Linux IP networking and L2 protocols
  • Ability to multi-task and solve complex problems
  • Ability to drive a team towards results
  • Consistent track record of learning new technologies and features on own initiative
  • A demonstrable passion for technology and software development
