Our Identity Security Cloud team is looking for a well-rounded Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with a focus on backend-end development. A successful Staff SDET should have excellent troubleshooting skills, experience writing automation tests, creating extensive test cases, and be able to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards. We are looking for someone capable of driving several projects to completion from a QA perspective and a skilled technician that can also serve as a mentor tothe team.
Responsibilities include designing automation testing best practices, quality standards & processes, manual testing of backend applications, assisting engineers in creation of automation tests, and maintaining healthy automation testing pipelines. We are looking for a visionary that delivers recommendations on how to evolve testing best practices within the organization that solve today’s problems with the future direction of product testing in mind.
What success looks like in the role
Within the first 30 days you will:
Onboard into your new role, get familiar with our product offering and technology, proactively meet peers and stakeholders, set up your test and development environment.
By 90 days:
Develop, promote, and maintain quality standards and quality control systems.
Collaborate with backend engineers and engineering managers to develop best practices for automation testing.
Monitor and analyze quality performance and the health of our automation testing pipeline.
Assist developers with testing issues and improving the team’s knowledge in automation testing.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of testing environments.
Assist in manual verification of full feature testing and ensuring quality across all supported devices.
By 6 moths:
Proactively help improve quality methodologies within the organization to increase efficiency and work with other QA resources to form best practices for how to test our products.
Assist in optimizing workflows and processes used in our CI/CD pipelines.
Consistently lead code/design reviews & presentation
Build out contract testing and contribute to API testing.
Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
By 1 year:
Act as the subject matter expert in test
Coach and mentor to other junior engineers on the team
Influence beyond engineering occasionally, with other internal groups or customers
Participate in planning sessions to gain knowledge of how to best create test plans for solutions designed.
Suggest technologies that could help improve quality
Requirements or things you will learn on the job:
5+ years of experience in quality engineering.
Experience writing test cases for manual verification of web applications.
Experience developing code in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Java.
Experience writing Contract Testing/Automations with tools like Pact, Postman, Cypress.
Experience with testing REST APIs in a microservice environment.
Experience with AWS and testing SaaS applications
Familiarity with SQL and NonSQL data stores.
Familiarity with observability tools such as Kibana and Datadog.
Familiarity with setting up Synthetic monitoring or similar means of simulating user behavior on live services.
Familiarity with Jenkins, Cloudbees and CI/CD workflows.
Must have previous experience with requirements, defects, functional, and performance management systems.
Self-starter familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience planning and executing multi-sprint tasks with experience using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
