Senior Site Reliability Engineer - System Reliability & Security

Overall Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of applications and infrastructure.
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions.
• Proactively identify and mitigate potential system vulnerabilities using chaos engineering.
• Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
• Conduct performance testing and optimization.
• Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide application debugging and support.
• Manage incident response and facilitate post-mortems.
• Automate processes across applications, services, and infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and manage risks.

Software Requirements

• Proficiency in programming languages such as .NET, Go, Python, C++, Ruby, or Java.
• Experience with software delivery platforms like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Spinnaker.
• Understanding of REST APIs and ability to instrument services.

Technical Skills

• Monitoring and Observability:

  
  
  • Tools: Splunk, AppDynamics, Prometheus, Fluentd, ELK (Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana), TIG (Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana).
  • Open Telemetry implementation.

• System Reliability and Chaos Engineering:

  
  
  • Proactively identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure high system reliability and availability.

• Service Level Management:

  
  
  • Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.

• Performance Testing and Engineering:

  
  
  • Conduct performance testing and optimization.
  • Ensure scalability and availability of systems.

• Cloud Platforms:

  
  
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Utilize IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

• DevOps and CI/CD:

  
  
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop scripts and automation using JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Kubernetes and Automation:

  
  
  • Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Automate processes across applications, services, and infrastructure.

• Cyber Security:

  
  
  • Knowledge of security postures across applications, infrastructure, and networks.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, conduct audits, and manage risk.

Experience

• Proven experience in a similar role within the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Monitor and maintain system reliability and performance.
• Implement and manage monitoring and observability tools.
• Conduct chaos engineering experiments to identify vulnerabilities.
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
• Perform performance testing and optimization.
• Manage cloud infrastructure using IaC tools.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Debug and support applications.
• Manage incident response and conduct post-mortems.
• Automate processes and manage Kubernetes clusters.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and manage risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 - 20 years of relevant experience.
