Generally, the team is formed in Squad where each squad consists of Squad Lead, Business Analyst, Dev lead, Developers and Testers. This Squad structure provides more connectivity among team members and allows us to deliver faster as all resources work as one group on dedicated task. 


About the Role:


The Senior site reliability engineer plays a central role in supporting the SRE team and ensuring the highest standards of technical quality, architectural integrity, and innovation in SRE projects. The SRE team, of which this person will become a member, is responsible for overseeing, guiding, supporting the software development teams and the production environments.  The primary objective of this role is to drive the productivity of the SRE team, development teams, maintain technical excellence, drive innovation, contribute significantly to SRE and software projects, ensure the timely completion of projects according to quality standards and ensure the production environment is available 24/7.

Roles & Responsibilities:-


1.Technical Proficiency


  • Demonstrate a deep and comprehensive understanding of the following technologies.
    • Experience with both Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
    • Experience with L7 Load-balancers (HAProxy, Nginx, Fortinet, Frontdoor or Applicationgateway)
    • Experience with L2/L3 networking and firewall configurations.
    • Deep understanding of the Azure platform and it’s hosting landscape.
    • Experience with Azure Web Applications and App Service Environments
    • Experience with (Azure) Kubernetes Services and containerization.
    • Experience with setup and management of SQL databases (MS SQL, MYSQL, NOSQL)
    • Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably with Terraform and ARM/Bicep
    • Deep understanding of CI/CD deployment processes with Azure DevOps or GITHUB.

2. System Reliability


  • Strong grasp of infrastructure high availability patterns and commitment to ensure system reliability.
    • Ensure the reliability and availability of our systems and applications in alignment with service level objectives (SLOs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Proactively monitor system health, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact performance or availability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement redundancy and failover strategies, minimizing downtime.
    • Continuously assess and improve disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

3. Automation and Scalability


  • A strong focus on automation, doing a task more than twice? Automate it!
    • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) solutions to automate deployment, scaling, and configuration management processes.
    • Optimize system performance and processes through automation, load balancing, and auto-scaling, ensuring seamless handling of traffic spikes.
    • Work closely with development teams to integrate automated testing and deployment pipelines into the software development lifecycle.

4. Incident Response and Continuous Improvement


  • Commitment to solving incidents, learn from them and use them to do improvements.
    • Participate in on-call rotations, promptly responding to incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures.
    • Foster a culture of post-incident reviews and documentation to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
    • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost optimization within the infrastructure, implementing innovative solutions.
    • Share knowledge and mentor team members, promoting best practices and cross-functional collaboration.

5. System Administration & Infrastructure management


  • Proficient in system and network management, you know how the basics of an infrastructure work!
    • Manage user accounts, permissions, access controls in operating systems.
    • Troubleshoot issues related to system availability or performance.
    • Maintain network infrastructure including virtual networks, firewalls and load-balancers.

6. Security Management


  • Strong focus on security, you should have a good understanding of system and network security.
    • Implement security best practices across the infrastructure stack.
    • Respond to security incidents promptly by following incident response procedures.

Qualifications 


  • A bachelor or master’s degree in IT 
  • Over 4-5 years of experience as Site reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer or Systems Engineer. 
  • Solid expertise in IT infrastructure (Systems engineering, Networking, Virtualization, etc.) 
  • Solid experience with Azure, equivalent to AZ-700 and AZ-900 certification, 
  • Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, ARM templates and PowerShell (AZ & CLI), 
  • Experience with monitoring like Grafana and Application Insights 
  • Azure SQL experience or other Azure structured query languages, 
  • Azure Devops experience building pipelines, 
  • Experience with (Azure) Kubernetes and containerization, 
  • Agile/Scrum experience, 
  • Preferred: Experience with European teams.
