About the position:
The Senior Robotics Engineer is part of the Materials, Equipment, and Quality team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and will be part of Chevron’s broader Robotics program. The vision of this program is to enable adoption of robotics technology to drive business results. This role will lead the stakeholder engagements across multiple business units to expand the Robotics community of practice (CoP), plan and deliver the goals/objectives aligned with overall robotics adoption vision & program objectives. This role is also expected to participate in regional Joint Industry Projects (JIP), develop and execute collaborative work scopes with robotics companies and service providers in the region and represent Chevron in robotics consortiums and conferences in the region.
Key responsibilities:
Engage & Align with Robotics program team members, plan and deliver the goals/objectives aligned with overall robotics adoption vision & program objectives.
Understand priorities and business value to drive standardization, integration of technology within current workflows and digitization to enable end-user acceptance of these technologies. capture feedback, best practices, share with the community and drive consistency.
Engage stakeholders and practitioners across multiple BU’s to understand barriers and challenges to adoption of robotics technology.
Track progress and share reports with cross functional stakeholder and leadership
Identify opportunities to collaborate with regional robotics companies and service providers with robotics capabilities to drive Chevron priorities in the region. Identity and develop testing, lab, research and development capabilities in the region that are aligned with overall robotics program objectives and goals.
Mentor Robotics engineer team members on end users’ activities and requirements, for example, Inspection codes, standards, daily maintenance and operations etc.
Develop org capability across chevron locations (BU, facilities) to enable adoption of these technologies and life cycle management of these tools (hardware and software). Identify skills, competencies required and lead training and development of workforce.
Responsible to lead regional JIPs, sharing Chevron’s needs and requirements to drive technology development.
Create an environment for a discipline and structured approach to removing barriers and challenges to adoption of robotics technologies.
Required Qualifications:
Engineering degree in one of the following - Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics (B.E./B.Tech.)from a recognized (AICTE) university
Experience with development and implementation of robotic technologies in processing facilities
Experience leading testing and qualification efforts of new technologies. Develop testing protocols, plan & execute demonstrations
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in robotics or mechatronics
API certifications for Tanks and/or Pressure vessels (510, 570, 653)
10+ years in Refinery or Complex upstream Facility Maintenance/Operations experience equivalent, 3+ years of experience leading and influence program level strategic planning & Leading small teams
Industry Certification in NDT - Level III in one or more NDE methods
Managing cost, schedule and execution on Capital projects
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
