Job Description:


Organizational Position:


Project Engineer / Sr. Project Engineer reporting to Technical Lead at Copeland Engineering and Technology Center, Pune


Responsibilities:


  • This Project engineering position for the Integrated Products (Condensing Units) Division of Refrigeration department in Copeland and will be responsible for Customer support work, be it releasing new products for the market or making changes to existing products.
  • This position will also need to support developing new product technologies to support customer requirements and position new products for expansion into growth and adjacent markets such as outdoor units and more integrated solutions, innovating beyond traditional condensing unit programs.
  • As a Project Engineer, candidates will be responsible for the engineering execution of projects while working in a team-orientated environment with local and global Emerson project teammates in United States, Asia and Europe.
  • In addition to work with mechanical systems, this position will define, test, and implement electronics and other new technologies into new and existing condensing unit product lines and integrated solutions.
  • Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to engineering innovative system solutions leveraging mechanical and electrical devices, developing test procedures for new products, writing requests for engineering lab support, sample development, supporting cost reduction efforts, and providing technical support to sales.

Job Requirements:


  • Excellent understanding of design, development and validation of Vapor compression systems
  • Should have in depth knowledge on heat load calculations for Commercial Refrigeration System’s Work on medium to high complexity projects with end-to-end project ownership of Thermal/ Refrigeration subsystem and interactions.
  • Should have good knowledge on low GWP refrigerant system (Propane-R290, A2L’s Refrigerant, Co2) design and development.
  • Selection of compressor for various applications, Condenser Sizing using tools like Coil Designer
  • Selection and Sizing of Line items like filer Drier, Solenoid valve, Receiver, Accumulator, Electricals Components, Expansion Devices (TXV, Capillary)
  • Experience working with system and component level Agency requirements-for thermal subsystems, not limited to but comprising of UL, IEC standards (like UL60335-2-89, UL207)
  • Hands on experience in system level testing exposure like DOE, NSF, Calorimeter Test, Pull down Test, CFM Measurement
  • Based on product specification, develop concept design, conduct design calculations
  • Having a knowledge of advanced electronics controller used in refrigeration system will be an added advantage. Able to initiate and drive cost reduction projects/initiative.
  • Awareness for NPD Process, Gate Reviews, Knowledge of DFMEA, DFA and DFM
  • Experience in Teamcenter-UG NX with modelling, assembly, and drafting skills. Awareness to ECN/ECR Process, Team Center PLM
  • Continuous process improvement using automation, standardization, digitization, and efficiency improvement programs. Able to achieve innovation targets.
  • Good presentation, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. Fluent English language skills required.  US Eastern Time Zone working hours overlap required for part of the day.

Education and Experience Requirements


  • Master of Mechanical /Heat Power/Thermal Engineering: 3-6 years of experience or equivalent
