Job Description: Senior Product Manager Technical – Amazon Pay (India)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Product Manager to drive the growth and adoption of Amazon Pay among online merchants, mobile apps, and websites in India. This role is instrumental in shaping the future of digital payments and ensuring Amazon Pay becomes the preferred choice for 5 million online merchants across the country.
As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of Amazon Pay's products and features, with a considerable impact on the Indian payment ecosystem. You will own the product roadmap, define feature priorities, and contribute to organizational narratives and goals. Your deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and technological advancements will enable you to define the problems we are trying to solve, envision the desired customer experience, and develop a comprehensive product strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Roadmap:
- Define the vision, tenets, and product strategy for Amazon Pay in India, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver the right product solutions independently, with limited guidance.
- Drive product discussions, distilling clear requirements from diverse sets of customers, partners, vendors, and regional agencies.
Customer Insight and Competitive Analysis:
- Perform market research, usability studies, and create focus groups to identify best-of-breed benchmarks and solve customer problems.
- Conduct competitive analyses and judiciously incorporate insights to inform product decisions.
- Write press releases that imagine how we would communicate with customers on the release date of a new product, ensuring we build the right solutions.
Technical Expertise and Risk Mitigation:
- Understand the systems, technologies, limitations, scaling factors, and architectural decisions behind Amazon Pay products.
- Articulate when new technologies are needed or discuss the differences between technology offerings.
- Proactively mitigate risks and reduce exposure to classic failure modes, influencing teams to eliminate architectural problems that stifle innovation or cause user dissatisfaction.
- Leverage your technical judgment to test assumptions and enlist Senior/Principal Engineer reviews to ensure solutions will scale to meet "think big" business ideas.
Product Execution and Measurement:
- Develop product plans with clear, measurable success criteria, defining mechanisms and metrics to track adoption, performance, and alignment with business goals.
- Define showstoppers related to product quality, ensure bugs are triaged, and issues are resolved or mitigated in the right order.
- Potentially be responsible for product/feature evangelism or marketing, including branding, messaging, packaging, placement, pricing, and promotions/deals.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership:
- Build consensus and influence others to follow the best path forward when confronted with discordant views.
- Actively recruit and develop others, improving their skills and ability to get things done.
- Mentor and coach on product management best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven track record of successful product management experience in the fintech, e-commerce, or digital payments industry, with a deep understanding of the Indian market.
- Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with payment systems, APIs, and integration methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Passion for delivering exceptional user experiences and driving customer-centric product innovation.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

-Regular connects and alignment with leadership stakeholders across Amazon Pay and Worldwide teams in Amazon since this is a highly cross-functional role
-Build quarterly roadmaps and deliver results on them

Mission: Build a self-sustained convenient, trusted, affordable and rewarding (rewards, affordability, value additions equipped) payment experience for top affluent customers of India at large, organized and demand-relevant Off-Amazon merchants

- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
- Experience performing statistical analysis of data using SQL, Excel and other tools
- Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
