Role description:
This role will form an integral part of our Global Excellence Centre (GEC) – Arcadis’ centralized and fully integrated project delivery group. Our GEC is made up of more than 3,000 talented individuals working in offices across India, Romania, and the Philippines, providing Capability, Capacity, and a Competitive Advantage across a wide array of unique projects and services, in collaboration with our global businesses.
The APM Discipline (Advanced Process Manufacturing) in the GECs is comprised of cross-functional teams, that contribute to the design & development of innovative process engineering solutions in Pharmaceutical & Process industries. Our ability to effectively manage projects, assess client needs, and provide technical guidance is crucial in delivering successful outcomes, using the most innovative way of doing computational design.
Role accountabilities:
- Develop detailed piping designs, layouts, and models using Cadworx software based on project specifications, P&IDs, and engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and design objectives for plant facilities.
- Create 3D models of piping systems, equipment, and structures within the plant layout to optimize space utilization and ensure operational efficiency.
- Generate isometric drawings, orthographic views, and material take-offs to support construction, fabrication, and installation activities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and project-specific requirements in piping design, including material selection, sizing, and routing.
- Conduct clash detection analysis and resolve interferences between piping components, equipment, and structural elements to enhance constructability.
- Review and interpret P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor data to incorporate accurate piping details into the design.
- Collaborate with other designers, draftsmen, and engineers to integrate piping designs with the overall plant layout and systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in a relevant technical or engineering discipline with a certified course in Autodesk Plant 3D/CADWorx or similar plant design software.
- Proven experience as an Autodesk Plant 3D and/or CADWorx Plant Piping Designer, with a minimum of 8+ years in plant piping design with at least 3+ years in leading team.
- Proficiency in Plant 3D and/or CADWorx software for piping design, including 3D modeling, isometric generation, orthographic views, and material management.
- Proficiency in collaboration/coordination software like Autodesk Navisworks and Re-Cap, with a solid understanding of piping design principles, materials, fittings, valves, and industry standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME, ANSI, and API.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications, along with effective communication abilities to guide and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Implementation of quality procedures to ensure good design deliverables, demonstrating out-of-the-box thinking for automation or innovation, and comprehensive leadership skills with previous experience managing medium-scale projects and a small team.
Nice to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or engineering Discipline.
- Affiliation to professional organizations like Autodesk etc.
- Experience in projects related to the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, and Food & Beverage sectors.
- Experience in the creation of project specs, catalogs, etc. in any plant design software.
- Experience in 3D Piping Design using CADWorx Plant.
- Experience in leading piping design teams, managing design deliverables, and overseeing project milestones.
