Senior Manager, User Experience (UX) Research & Design - Hospitality Business Unit

The Senior Manager of UX Research and Design will lead our efforts to create a customer-centered hospitality experience. You will be responsible for defining and executing the UX research and design strategy that delivers innovative and intuitive products and services for our global clientele.


This role is pivotal in ensuring that our hospitality solutions are engaging, accessible, and effective in meeting the needs of our customers and users.


You will lead a global team of 20+ UX Designers and Researchers working across the Hospitality portfolio. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Hospitality customers, Product Management Leads, Engineering UI Leads and UI Architects, Operations & Sales, DesignOps, and other Business Unit UX Leads.


Main Responsibilities


1. Strategic direction


- Defining the long-term vision and strategy for user experience design, aligning it with business objectives and goals.


- Establish design principles, guidelines, and best practices to guide the development of user-centered products and services.


2. Team management


- Leading and managing a team of globally-dispersed UX professionals, providing guidance and support.


- Ensure the team’s collaboration, growth, and adherence to design processes and methodologies.


3. Stakeholder management


- Collaborating with teams from various functions, including product managers, developers, DesignOps and UX heads from other Bus, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment and a shared understanding of user experience goals.


4. UX design and prototyping


- Providing expertise in various design disciplines, including user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and information architecture.


- Oversee the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs to communicate and test design concepts.


5. User research and insights


- Developing and overseeing user research initiatives to gain a deep understanding of user needs, behaviors, and motivations.


- Utilize research findings to inform design decisions and validate design solutions.


- Developing and implementing usability testing plans to validate design decisions and uncover areas for improvement.


- Analyze user feedback and data to drive continuous improvement in the user experience.


6. Industry awareness


- Staying up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in user experience design.


- Provide expertise and guidance on emerging UX trends and innovations.


About the Ideal Candidate


- MA/MS in a design-related field, or comparable experience


- Extensive experience in UX research and design senior roles, delivering products in cross-functional globally-dispersed teams from start to finish


- Expertise guiding teams on B2B and B2B2C products to deliver user-centered solutions and transforming ways of working to grow UX maturity


- Experience in designing enterprise software for an end-to-end customer experience


- Understanding of platform ecosystems and partnership models


- Experience in the Hospitality and/or Travel industry is beneficial
