Senior Manager Information Systems - Cloud


What you will do


Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will spearhead a dedicated team of managers and engineers across Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, Automation, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Your mission: to ensure Amgen cloud-based services are reliable, scalable, and secure, with a strong emphasis on AWS. You'll set strategic direction, inspire excellence, and drive operational success across our cloud ecosystem. This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational critical initiatives, develop a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure. Roles & Responsibilities:


Leadership & Strategy


  • Manage and develop a team of cloud engineers, managers and SREs, ensuring dedication and career growth.


  • Define and implement the cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.


  • Establish operational metrics, SLAs, and governance models for cloud environments.


Cloud Engineering & Operations


  • Oversee the design, deployment, and management of AWS-based Amgen cloud platform.


  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of cloud services through automation and standard methodologies.


  • Implement cost optimization strategies and lead cloud budgets effectively.


Site Reliability & Automation


  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, CloudFormation, and CI/CD pipelines.


  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis to minimize downtime and improve resiliency.


  • Develop and enforce observability and monitoring strategies across Amgen cloud platform


Security & Compliance


  • Ensure cloud environments are aligned with industry standards


  • Work closely with security teams to implement IAM, encryption, and compliance standard methodologies.


Stakeholder & Vendor Management


  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and business teams to define cloud requirements.


  • Be a great partner with cloud service providers and third-party vendors to ensure optimal service delivery.


What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree and 8 to 10 years of experience in cloud operations, with at least 3 years in management OR


  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 to 14 years of experience in cloud operations, with at least 4 years in management OR


  • Diploma and 14 to 18 years of experience in cloud operations, with at least 5 years in management OR


  • Proven experience in leading mangers, handling cloud-based teams and operations at scale.


  • Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, EKS, IAM, VPC, etc.).


  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.


  • Experience in SRE principles including observability, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response.


  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native application deployment.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with multi-cloud (Azure, GCP) environments.


  • Hands-on experience withFinOps for cost management.


  • Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS) and service mesh architectures.


  • Familiarity with AI-driven cloud automation and predictive monitoring.


  • Familiarity with HPC, DGX Cloud.


Professional Certifications:


  • ITIL or PMP Certification (for cloud governance & project management) (preferred)


  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (preferred)

Shift Information: This position is an onsite role and may require working during later hours to align with business hours. Candidates must be willing and able to work outside of standard hours as required to meet business needs.
