Senior Manager-Infrastructure Engineer

Role Overview


An Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting the infrastructure that enables an organization's IT systems and services to run smoothly. This includes working with hardware, networking, virtualization, cloud environments, and security systems to ensure the organization's IT infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and scalable. Infrastructure engineers often work closely with software engineers, IT support teams, and system administrators to optimize performance, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality services to end-users.


What will you do in this role:


  • Manage the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance, and effective use of specific technology services.


  • Follow standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for complex systems or system components.  Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.


  • Identify alternative design options and seek guidance when deviating from established design patterns.  Align solutions with enterprise and solution architecture standards (including security) including contributing to improvement of the standards.


  • Collaborate with practitioners to drive adoption of the Technology Engineering practice roadmap within the products where you work.


  • Coach and mentor junior engineers to mature their practice and create a pipeline of community leadership talent.


  • Lead conversations with stakeholders around their requirements and demands.


  • Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the Product manager.  


  • Participate in Product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with Product goals.


  • On call shift to support for WAN/LAN/Wireless teams - rotational shift in follow the sun model roughly once in 6 weeks 05.30am – 01.30pm


What should you have:


  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.


  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with supporting and designing global networks


  • Expert knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).


  • Advanced knowledge of SD-WAN solutions (Velocloud, Viptela).


  • Advance knowledge in TCP/IP protocol stacks.


  • Good understanding of Cloud and Security solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SASE).


  • Networking: Understanding of virtual networks, VPNs, and firewalls.


  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.


  • Scripting and Automation: Experience with infrastructure automation and management tools (Ansible, Terraform).


  • DevOps practices: Experience with Git, infrastructure as code (IaC), observability, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)


  • Security Best Practices: Experience with IT security practices and compliance.


  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex distributed system issues.


  • Product and customer-centric approach.


  • Good knowledge of LAN, Wireless technologies.


  • Experience with Python is a nice to have.


  • Demonstrate both tactical as well as strategic thinking.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to work in a high-pressure dynamic environment and independently prioritize work.
