Northern Trust is looking for a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join its Technology Development Centre in Pune, India in the Investment Management team. This individual as part of an Agile development team, will be responsible for analysis and design of upcoming Alternatives business platform that meet business and technical requirements.


Major Duties


  • Analyse and build the requirements for Private Equity, Hedge Fund businesses of Northern Trust Asset Management upcoming Alts platform.
  • Liaise with users of 50 South Capital platform and document the requirements in ADO boards while working closely with Technology team
  • First point of contact for clarification of any business gaps in Tech team locally.
  • Participate in data modeling discussions and ensure the dataware house model meets business needs
  • A team player with an ability to own the design and code as per requirement given.
  • Communicate status (written and verbal) to project team and management
  • Continuously looks for ways to improve the application’s stability, scalability and user experience

Experience


  • Bachelor or equivalent degree in finance with technology background
  • 8-12 years experienced technical engineer with strong understanding of Alternatives business along with data storage
  • Experience in Hedge Fund and Private Equity
  • Experience in multi-tiered, complex system design & architecture

Required Skills:


  • Excellent knowledge of Hedge Fund and Private Equity
  • Strong story writing and analysis skills
  • Experience on Data Analysis and modeling
  • Ability to lead and drive business user communication
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Strong with SQL and query writing skills for analysing and data quality.
  • Experience working with ADO or equivalent SDLC tool.
  • Expert level understanding of writing automated unit test cases.
  • Experience with building interfaces to Data Lakes, Operational Data Stores and Enterprise Datawarehouse.
  • Design, develop and use data structures and data marts to support reporting.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Both attention to detail & ability to rise above details to see broader implications & recommend strategic solutions
  • Self-starter; Positive & adaptable in a continually changing environment
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills with technical & business partners
  • Strong understanding of building CI/CD pipelines for change management

Preferred/ Recommended Skills:


  • Familiarity with Change management process
  • Financial domain knowledge – Investment Management, potfolio construction and risk management.
  • Worked on project streamlining the testing process by introducing automation, leveraging tools and setting goals to reduce time and effort.
