Overview:
The Applied Research & Technology (ART) department works with teams around the globe, collaborating with them towards building prototypes, demonstrators, and new products, thereby enabling better innovation and business outcomes for Collins Aerospace.
The Emerging Technologies team, part of ART, pursues advanced, emerging, and disruptive technologies and methods relevant to multiple strategic business units (SBUs) with a focus on AI/ML, AR/VR, Cloud and Advance Software Engineering methods.
Position: Senior Lead Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is ready to grow and develop the ART – Emerging Technologies team. The individual will be responsible for providing Technical Leadership to multiple advanced and disruptive technology projects with different stakeholders around the globe. The individual will also be responsible for guiding the teams towards delivering successful Proof of Concepts, Technology Demonstrators and New Product Development.
We are also looking for a candidate who is passionate about AI/ML technology development. The candidate should have a strong background in developing AI/ML applications and should have a good knowledge of Aerospace products & services. The candidate needs to be an active communicator, a good influencer and fluent in the dynamic and everchanging environment of the research and innovation domain.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead projects activities such as requirements definition, architecture design, technology stack selection, development & deployment.
Performing State-of-the-art research in identifying relevant AI/ML technologies that can be leveraged for the use cases and build confidence with the customer early in the project through preliminary & critical design reviews.
Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
Identify Technology and Industry disruptions in AI/ML on the horizon.
Be an active participant in International Conferences & Symposiums in AI/ML and write research & white papers which get accepted in these forums.
Key Competencies & Skillsets:
Good Technical Leadership skills in prior role with experience in leading and guidingagile project teams for successful project execution.Being a Certified Scrum Master would be a plus.
Strong Software Development experience with AI/ML applications developed for Cloud or Embedded platforms. Prior Experience working on AWS cloud services is a plus.
Good hands-on experience in at least two of the languages - Python, C, C#, C++ or Java is required.
Good experience with MLOps. Additionally, prior experience in developing AI/ML software for Aerospace industry is a plus.
Strong experience with at least one of the domains – Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Data Analytics, with a reasonable understanding of the other two domains. Prior Experience in Generative AI or Explainable AI is a plus.
Ability to communicate clearly and well, both verbally and in written form, developing strong partnerships across functions to drive measurable operational results.
Strong focus on quality and ability to navigate through company specific processes.
Excels in a fast-paced environment with high degree of accountability.
Diligent, disciplined, flexible, reliable, and strives for highest quality output.
Basic Qualifications:
B Tech. in Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering or Avionics with a minimum experience of 5 years.
5+ Years of experience with relevant experience in AIML
At least 2 years of experience in leading and executing AI/ML projects.
Relevant AI/ML Certifications
Advanced degree/certification in AI/ML would be a plus.
Agile Scrum Master certifications

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
