A Day in the LifeMedtronic is hiring a Senior IT Integration Architect to play a pivotal role in designing and implementing complex integration solutions using multiple Integration tools. Your extensive experience in integration architecture and deep understanding of integration technologies will drive the success of our integration projects and contribute to the overall IT strategy of the organization. As a Principal IT Integration Architect, you will be a senior member of our technology team responsible for shaping and executing our organization's integration strategy. Your extensive experience in designing and implementing complex integration solutions will be crucial in ensuring the seamless flow of data and processes across our technology landscape.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Solution Design and Architecture: Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and development teams to understand business requirements and design integration solutions that align with the organization's objectives. Lead the architectural design process for end-to-end integration solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your in-depth expertise in webMethods suite including Integration Server, Trading Networks, Universal Messaging, Broker Server, MWS, BAM/BPM, API Gateway, Enterprise Gateway, MFT (Active Transfer Server), webMethods.io, Informatica, ETL tools, Kafka and data transformation techniques to design and implement robust and scalable integration solutions.
  • Architecture Governance: Define and enforce integration architecture best practices, standards, and guidelines. Conduct regular reviews of integration projects to ensure adherence to architectural principles and maintain consistency across the ecosystem.
  • Governance and Compliance: Establish and enforce integration architecture governance processes, ensuring that projects adhere to architectural standards and compliance requirements. Conduct regular reviews and audits to maintain architectural integrity.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership to a team of integration developers, guiding them through complex integration challenges, reviewing their work, and fostering skill development within the team. Oversee and influence cross functional diligence and integration teams on initiatives both before and after the project acquisition.
  • Vendor Interaction: Collaborate with vendors and third-party partners to understand product roadmaps, influence enhancements, and ensure the organization's integration architecture is future-proof and aligned with industry trends. Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors to facilitate effective collaboration throughout the integration process.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize integration solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability. Identify and address potential bottlenecks and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architectural diagrams, design documents, and integration patterns. Contribute to the development of a knowledge repository for integration practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate integration-related risks and challenges. Provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives in a clear and concise manner. Act as a trusted advisor to the business on integration strategy and best practices.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, integration trends, and industry developments. Explore and recommend innovative solutions to improve integration processes, efficiency, and overall system performance.

Required Knowledge and Experience: 


  • 8+ years of progressive experience in IT integration with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information technology, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities, including the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to lead the architectural design, development, deployment, and technical quality of large enterprise or global solutions that span multiple technologies and disciplines. 
  • Proven expertise in integration technologies, middleware platforms, integration design patterns, messaging frameworks, and API management, ETL tools, data transformation techniques and ESB frameworks.
  • Be able to provide architectural direction for multiple projects/programs concurrently in various stages of their lifecycle.
  •  Ability to understand the customer's business problem, need, or opportunity and to design a solution that completely and correctly addresses the business problem, need, or opportunity without unnecessary enhancements.
  • Experience with Cloud technology AWS including containers, Kubernetes, Docker and understanding of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platform/Applications.
  • Design and handle integrations using XML, IDOC, BAPI, EDI, Flat files, Java, webservices, API management, Integration cloud, Hybrid-Integration, Cloud streams.
  • Experience /Knowledge in designing CI/CD solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise database technologies like Oracle, DB2, and MS SQL Server.
  • Experience or strong knowledge of communication and data handling protocols (AS2, AS4, PGP/GPG, S/MIME, HTTPS, FTPS/SFTP/SCP/POP3/SMTP, Web Services/SOAP/REST, etc.)

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)


  • Master’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience in change management, as it relates to a culture and mindset of a complex organization including capabilities building, process design, ownership, and implementation.
  • Managing a Global Organization and Stakeholders.
