Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Senior IT Analyst Applications (IT Analyst III - ABAP Developer) to join our team who will have the opportunity to champion Applications Development and Support Team -CAT IT Division.


The incumbent would be responsible for providing technical expertise and  leadership to a team of IT professionals (Caterpillar and Agency).


The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore, Whitefield office.


What you will do:


Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Analyze complex business processes and issues to implement ABAP solutions
  • Manage project scope working with project managers, team members, and team leads
  • Act as ABAP expert to advise large team of developers
  • Manage and enforce development best practices for ABAP development.
  • The incumbent will serve as one of the technical experts on the team helping to manage quality of work and deliverables across several SAP ERP applications and modules.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for developing and delivering ABAP solutions for various demand while working with users to review and understand requirements.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for troubleshooting testing and production issues, determining solutions, and delivering those solutions.
  • The incumbent will work with other team members and project managers to manager workload of the team across multiple projects and SAP system to ensure quality solutions are delivered in a timely manner while helping to review resources needs to deliver those solutions.
  • The incumbent will help review functional requirements from teams and advised ABAP programmers on best solutions to meet business needs utilizing SAP and Caterpillar best practices.

What you will have:


Professional & Technical Skills:
Position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university and/or 5 plus years’ experience SAP ABAP programming.

Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.

• Manages application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
• Evaluates key interfaces and interdependencies among core applications systems.
• Explains features and benefits of core applications for consideration by business units.
• Implements existing and planned application enhancements in major business units.
• Tracks data flow between own applications and core applications in other business areas.
• Plans enhancement, conversion, and retirement strategies for core applications.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
• Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
• Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
• Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
• Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.
• Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Facilitates in application design reviews and walkthroughs.
• Creates and evaluates technical alternatives for complex applications.
• Interprets application services such as API; integrates them with technical design.
• Develops various, distinct and multiple technical application designs.
• Prepares technical design documents and blueprints for applications.
• Explores and evaluates application design considerations for multiple technologies.
Implementation: Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks (ex: accounting or graphic design).
Level Working Knowledge:
• Tracks problems associated with the quality and effectiveness of application software.
• Researches the benefits and drawbacks of an organization's application software.
• Drafts application software usage for the department's needs.
• Provides instant support for end users of application software.
• Implements a specific application software under the supervision of management.
