Airbus is looking for a Senior Group Manager - Skywise to join the Bangalore, India location.


Skywise is a revolutionary digital platform for the aviation industry, developed by Airbus in partnership with Palantir. Skywise uses modern, cutting edge technologies to leverage the hidden value of data and to support aviation actors in taking data-driven decisions and optimizing their daily operations. Skywise does so by ingesting over 150,000 datasources daily and organizing them into an universal data model that we call the Skywise Ontology. On top of the Ontology, Skywise provides its customers with access to a vast array of powerful tools that allows them to drill down, explore data, build interactive dashboards and front-ends perform advanced data analysis using Machine Learning, build predictive models, carry out simulation scenarios across complex models mimicking real-world industrial situations and so much more.


Currently, Skywise has been adopted by more than 140 Airlines worldwide and over a dozen major aviation suppliers and has over 22,000 unique users accessing the platform every day. Skywise is continuously expanding by connecting more and more data sources and attracting more customers to its services.


Sr Group Manager - Skywise is part of the Digital Platforms Group under Information Management (Digital) function. He/She is responsible for the day to day management of the Skywise teams which are located within the Airbus Digital Global In-house Centre (GIC). Success of this position will require good hands-on experience in Products Software development and strong international collaboration with global Airbus teams.


The successful candidate will establish team goals by identifying, evaluating and understanding the business strategy & technical trends. He/She will accomplish the team results/performance by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, coaching and leading the team in the right direction.


Responsibilities:


  • Hold the full accountability to lead Skywise team in right direction to achieve the success


  • Define the product strategy, give the objectives & design the Service roadmap


  • Accountable for Product roadmap and delivery


  • Ensures that the known Product Vision is translated into a prioritized Product Backlog in alignment with the business stakeholders. 


  • Establishes two-way-dialogue to translate Business Needs against known technical & resource constraints. 


  • Ensures the participation of an End User Advocate with understanding of users and use, and a product that best serves both. .


  • Defines and go-to-market of the product and service (line)


  • Meet operational service level defined with the Business


  • Make business and technical governance decisions


  • Manage and lead the team on day to day operational basis and drive continuous process improvement


  • Lead the team using a performance management and development process with the right training program.


  • Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action when it’s required.


  • Coach, mentor, provide oversight and direction to the team accordance with the organization's policies and procedures


  • Develop the team to take the delegation and empower them to take responsibility for their jobs and goals


  • Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's goal and objectives


  • Manage work timing schedules, job rotation and vacations of the team


  • Maintain transparent and appropriate communication with the team


  • Responsible to take business decisions in accordance with organization policies and procedures


  • Responsible for overall budget management


  • Responsible for driving development programs and projects, secure harmonization and standardization together with global process owners in functional and technical domains


  • Experience in designing, integrating and managing IT solutions in engineering domain


  • Ability to understand and support:


    • DevOps CI/CD pipeline


    • SDLC for applications and products within their scope


    • Supplier enablement and support within their scope


  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new applications/Projects transition to operations etc.


  • Ability to provide solutions, determine overall design direction and provide recommendations for complex issues


  • Awareness of the role of Information Management plays in enabling the business objectives to be met


  • Perform operations review meetings (incidents, problems, requests, changes, action follow-up)


  • Manage escalations and participate actively in escalation calls


  • Act as intercultural “bridge” between Europe and India


  • Responsible to maintain the agreed SLA/OLAs


  • Managing co-ordination of the partners and working groups engaged globally in projects


  • Manage global communications and alignment with widely spread global stakeholders


  • Take the accountability of developing and maintaining a detailed project plan


  • Strong passion for technology, modern platform mind-set and solving customer problems


Graduate/Post Graduate with 15 + years of experience in developing, delivering & managing software solutions (preferably using DevOps Pipeline), Product Management and IT Operations Management with flowing criteria: 


Expert level:


  • Leadership skills & Project Management


  • Proficiency in Service Delivery Management, Project Management, and Leadership and driving improvement processes.


  • Knowledge of Aerospace domain (desirable but not mandatory)


  • Experience in setting-up & managing operations teams (Service Design, Transition, Operation & CSI)


  • Business / affairs Management


  • Ability to engage and motivate people


  • Experience in building new teams and experience in defining the road maps of any project/product engagement


  • Service Delivery Management


Intermediate level:


  • Software/tool development experience


  • Understanding of the SDLC and DevOps pipeline


  • Ability to shift between domains and multi-skills experience is highly desirable.


  • Professional Networking skills. 


Others:


  • Knowledge of Aerospace domain, especially in Communication, Facilities and Site Security Management and/or IT supplier management


  • Knowledge on Agile/ SAFe principle, managing Engineering/PLM applications development and Services teams


  • ITIL, PMP certification is highly desirable


  • Quality management System awareness is desirable


  • Capability to understand and deliver new business and customer requirements in the Digital domain


  • Ability to shift between domains and multi-skills experience is highly desirable.


  • Professional Networking skills


  • Basic French & German knowledge is desirable


  • Willingness to travel for long & short term to Europe


  • Master Degree or certification in topics of the digital domain is desirable
