Job Title: Senior Engineer


Career Level - D1


Introduction to role


Join a world-leading pharmaceutical company headquartered in the United Kingdom, operating in over 100 countries. As a Senior Engineer, you will be part of a large infrastructure support and maintenance function spanning several continents. Your expertise will be crucial in diagnosing and remediating issues with Windows Server Infrastructure and related roles and features, as well as other Microsoft Windows and third-party business infrastructure applications. This role demands hands-on experience in supporting hardware and software faults, building and deploying servers, and handling operational issues in core platform areas such as Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, VMware vSphere, AWS, Azure, and more.


Accountabilities
  • Initial triaging and remediation of high critical incidents.
  • Creating and updating Knowledgebase articles.
  • Fixing incidents reported through SNOW within the SLA.
  • Creating and implementing Change requests.
  • Fulfilling requests for standard changes (e.g., server builds, service catalogue items).
  • Creating and updating Known Error documentation.
  • Identifying RCA for problem records related to critical incidents.
  • Identifying SIP and running through it.
  • Availability monitoring and escalation.
Essential Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 6 to 9 years of operational experience in Windows Server/VMware/Citrix administration.
  • Experience in managing Incidents, Problems, changes, and capacity management aspects.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a large number of incidents via any ITSM tool.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts on a rotational basis covering Americas, EMEA, and ASIAPAC regions 24*7.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
  • A self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, resilience, and a desire for professional perfection.
  • In-depth or working knowledge of cloud solutions and concepts.
  • Experience with Service Now ITSM tool is preferred.
  • Experience working in converged infrastructure (UCS, Flexpod, PureFlex).
  • Operational experience with Windows OS (Windows 2003/2008/2012) and VMware (ESXi 5.x and above).
  • Experience working with server hardware DL, BL series.
  • Excellent knowledge & experience in XenApp, XenDesktop, Citrix Provisioning Services, Citrix Storefront, SQL Server, NetScaler, GSLB, VDI.
  • Strong knowledge in design, implementation, solve of Citrix Presentation Server, XenApp, and XenDesktop.
  • OS and Image Builds and Support.
  • Diagnose and repair system problems working closely with vendor support for all servers, software, and other hardware directly or with team members.
  • Experience in Citrix Administration with both XenApp and XenDesktop with multiple sites and farms.
  • Knowledge on Problem Management, RCA/problem resolution.
  • Authority on multiple versions of Citrix and good experience of Citrix Secure gateway/Web Interface/NetScaler.
  • Solid background with Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory Policy Management.
  • Publishing applications in Citrix and application virtualization.
  • Citrix Patch Management and policies configuration.
  • Strong knowledge in configuring Roaming profiles and Streaming profile configuration.
  • Good troubleshooting skills in Citrix printers, profiles, resource manager’s thresholds, installation manager, Citrix Farm Configuration.
  • Experience working with enterprise supervising tool and understanding dashboards.
  • Solid understanding in AWS, Azure, and Google cloud.
  • Experience with using Knowledge articles and documented SOPs to resolve tickets.
  • Experience working in ITIL model.
Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Multi years of work experience in Technical teams working in shifts.
  • Engineering level of experience in Citrix/Wintel/VMWare and Cloud with respect to handling Incidents, Problems, changes, and capacity management aspects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
