Job Title: Senior Engineer- Power projects

Our Nuclear and Power division is a leading consultancy providing multi-disciplinary engineering support services to all project stages, from concept through to completion, to owners, operators, regulators and suppliers to a diversified set of clients. With existing relationships with the major operators in the Nuclear and Power sector, we offer a hugely stimulating variety of work, within a team which is rapidly developing to support the delivery of new build power projects, maintaining the existing power generating assets and building net zero energy capabilities. Our projects are on a global scale with opportunities across the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East, across a range of projects. The combination of renewable sources and increase in demand however requires a stable backbone primarily based on gas/CCGT plants acting as frequency response, reserve or baseload to maintain security of supply and facilitate further renewable energy integration.

To meet the increasing demand of our expertise in the Net Zero sector, we have now opportunities for Senior Engineers with experience ranging from 10 – 12 years, with demonstratable experience in process engineering to join the Nuclear & Power team at our AtkinsRéalis India offices.


We are particularly interested in individuals with reasonable consultancy/contracting experience in thermal power projects. The person should be experienced in technically leading delivery of engineering or multi-disciplinary system design packages. Previous power, oil and gas or nuclear experience is desirable, but not essential, particularly with suitable demonstration of experience in a highly regulated industry.


Requirements:


Candidate should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:


  • A degree qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, and must be a Chartered Engineer with a suitable engineering Institution (IMechE, etc.)
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering the above services in the power generation sector.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in some of the areas below:
    • Power generation plant in relation to at least two of the following main power generation technologies: gas turbines, steam turbines, waste to energy.
    • Experience in providing technical advisory, feasibility, owner’s engineer, concept development or Pre-FEED
    • Other experience may cover any of the following areas: design, construction, operation, project management and engineering. 
    • Experience in working in a developer or consultancy environment desirable.
  • Conversant with international design codes and standards.
  • Strong delivery culture, ability to multi-task, resource management, delegate tasks, develop and deliver cost/time-effective solutions.
  • Experience of providing strong technical advice and guidance to the client.
  • Proficiency in software tools like GT-Pro, GT-Master, Thermoflex is desirable.
  • Experience or exposure to project management principles desirable.
  • Ability to understand and define client’s requirements, plan & schedule deliverables, timelines.
  • Proven strong problem solving, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to write accurate, detailed and concise technical reports.
  • Flexible to relocate to AtkinsRéalis India Office Locations (Bangalore/Gurgaon/Mumbai) flexible in travelling to AtkinsRéalis’ and client’s office locations around the world, if required.

Responsibilities:
The work is varied and may include some or all of the responsibilities mentioned below:


  • Lead or support on key power generation plant opportunities.
  • Lead or support technical advisory projects for buyers, lenders or sellers.
  • Lead of support feasibility, technology assessment and selection, conceptual development, pre-FEED or owner’s engineering services for developers or investors.
  • Lead or support FEED/Detailed design projects.
  • Technical Project management and managing deliverables.
  • Technical and team leadership capabilities.
  • Preparation of reports such as Feasibility study, Concept reports, etc.
  • Preparation of Request for Proposals.
  • Liaising with all stakeholders and responsible for all technical issues related to their area of specialization.
  • Liase with new and existing clients and developing trusting relationships with a range of our technical and commercial departments across the globe.
  • Co-ordination with other discipline specialists where areas interface or overlap exist.
  • Development of relationships with clients across the MENA region, project developers and energy organizations will be essential to success, and you will therefore enjoy working with others, sometimes at client sites, sometimes from our offices, and thrive on working within a collaborative and diverse project environment.
