Your Role at Baxter:


Baxter’s Respiratory Health business unit products expand therapies to better help patients and


physicians to manage chronic or acute respiratory and cardiac diseases (COPD, CHF, etc.).  The earlier the treatment for these patients – the better the quality of life.  The $150M business portfolio includes products for airway clearance and ventilation.   


The role of Senior Electrical  Engineer is to make technical contribution in Electrical sustaining engineering activities by providing technical contribution within an area of expertise to lead requirement, analysis, detailed design and verification activities for an assigned product, project or solution.  The successful candidate will possess solid “hands-on” technical abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients.


This position is based out of Bangalore and reporting to the Hardware Manager for Respiratory Health division of Front Line Care.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Identifies technical problems, provides innovative, creative solutions; shares technical knowledge with team.
  • Incorporates business, market, industry and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.
  • Generates alternatives and takes reasonable risks while solving technical problems.
  • Work and collaborate closely with Project Manager to define and solve engineering changes/problems to make products that meet all performance and functional criteria within required project schedule, with minimum guidance.
  • Participate or lead in design/change reviews with the Sustaining Team and Engineering Change Board – justify design detail and collaborate with other team members
  • Completes detailed, high quality technical documentation of product designs through the generation and maintenance of design requirement specifications, engineering prints, material specifications and bills-of-materials
  • Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment.
  • Uses existing engineering tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics.
  • Challenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levels
  • Informs others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments.
  • Presents the findings / objective evidences and able to present with rationale with applicability / exclusions
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective / Preventive action as needed.

Your Team:


You will be reporting to Hardware Manager for Respiratory Health. This position does not have any direct reports. You will need to work collaboratively with R&D and cross functions.  


Your Location:


The role is located in the BRD facility in Bangalore India. 


What You’ll Bring:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/ Electronic engineering with 6 to 9 yrs of work experience in design and development, testing of complex electrical/ Electronic components/ subsystems/ products.         
  • A demonstrated track record in electromechanical hardware development, preferably medical devices or other highly regulated products such as military hardware.
  • Ability to generate alternative solutions to problems or processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
  • Excellent background in fundamentals of circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience with industry leading software tools for schematic entry and PCB layout design.
  • Experience with established development tools and processes. Especially PSpice, OrCAD, Mentor’s DxDesigner and Expedition.
  • Hands-on experience with analog/digital circuit and embedded systems designs is required.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded platforms, 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers, Arm Cortex-M series processors.
  • Experience in CAN, SPI, I2C and UART.
  • Experience in designing circuits involving more than one of the following is preferred:
  • Battery, Blower, Compressor, Motor control and Solenoid control.
  • Previous experience with Medical Devices, FDA Regulations or other applicable regulatory requirements. Experience in FDA QSR (21 CFR Part 820) is preferred.
  • Hands on experience on testing of medical devices to UL/IEC 60601-1 standards required. Working knowledge of ISO13485 and CE/UL certification is a plus.
  • Experience in design QA, DFx, and DFMEA are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing objectives. Able to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills
