Role Description

Corporate Banking (CB) is a technology centric business, with an increasing move to real-time processing, an increasing appetite from customers for integrated systems and access to supporting data.   The Cash Data Controls team is part of the Corporate Bank Cash technology organization.

In this role you will be a hand-on lead engineer for the Cash Data Controls platform which is being delivered for the global Corporate Bank Cash businesses.   The platform provides a front-back solution to evidence and manage complete and accurate data for the Cash businesses.   This is a critical part of our regulatory compliance framework.  The platform provides multiple technical challenges, including high processing performance and scalability requirements, complex business logic, management of high volumes of data and presentation / workflow / MI.

You will join the team in Bangalore where you will be responsible for creating the designs of new strategic technology solutions that are consistent with our target architecture, and for delivery & implementation of software across all phases of the development lifecycle.

Your key responsibilities

• You will work on software components as an experienced engineer within our globally distributed technology team. Your role includes specification, development, testing and rollout of new features.
• You will contribute to the vision, understand and contribute to our product roadmap, integrate business value with experience and help drive the engineering culture within the team.
• The successful candidate will deliver high quality software and to be passionate about software engineering.
• Our software is mostly being developed on the Google Cloud Platform with some components deployed on-premises.
• Be part of a talented software team that works on mission-critical applications, leveraging best practices.
• Make decisions on design and implementation based on data-driven evidence.
• Deliver state of the art solutions as a hands-on technologist
• Implement leading technology advancements in the industry
• Maintain hygiene, risk, control, and stability at the core of every delivery
• Partner with UX/UI Design team, Architects, Business Analysts, Stakeholders across multiple regions and time-zones; at varying capacity to understand requirements
• Collaborate with engineers to participate, contribute, and lead design discussions and write specifications; be a hands-on lead engineer consistently reviewing architecture, designs, quality, and drive re-use and best practice
• Design, develop and document microservice-based & Cloud-native application components in accordance with requirements specification.
• Co-working with Quality Assurance (QA) team on test automation of new and existing functionality
• Ensure project / programme adherence to the Bank’s standard QA and Testing processes throughout the SDLC for each release.
• Ensure cross-project and programme dependencies are identified early and managed accordingly.
• Experience in the areas of testing with specialization in Automation testing.
• Hands on experience in middleware/backend service-based application Testing.
• Experience in Agile test methodology. Individual must have experience of working within full Agile teams.  They will need to have experience working within a fully functional team that performs analysis, dev and test for feature slices.       
• Experience in Defect tracking tools and Test reports.
• Liaise with the DevOps team and carry on the testing effectively.
• Should be good in communication and handle the stake holders effectively.
• Identify the automation areas and provide roadmap to proceed further.
• Work with the development team to understand the technologies and develop / implement automated testing tools for data comparison and transformation.
• Test automation frameworks: There are many different test automation frameworks available, such as Selenium WebDriver, Gherkin, Cucumber and JUnit. Automation test engineers need to be familiar with one or more of these frameworks to automate tests.
• Working knowledge on Java is mandate.
• A deep, practical understanding of SDLC processes including Requirements, Design, Development, Build, Release Management, and Quality Assurance.
• Build automated Regression Testing capability.
• Experience of performing Functional Analysis is highly desirable.
• Experience of SQL is a must, PL/SQL would be desirable.
• Drive a customer focused approach to delivering fit for purpose business functionality.
• Acts as a role model for new employees, providing help and support to facilitate early integration into their new environment.
• Experience with cloud-based testing tools or good understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, is desirable.

Your skills and experience

• 8+ years’ experience in Software Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years gained within Investment Banking.
• Experience with Agile software development frameworks and processes, technical architecture, and software design
• Experience with Java based Monolithic/Microservices
• Experience with a range of data storage technologies (e.g. Postgres, MongoDB, Google BigQuery)
• Experience designing and implementing distributed enterprise applications
• Experience with the design and implementation of API’s
• Knowledge in container runtime environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience of designing and implementing automated testing approaches including unit and system level tests
• Experience implementing applications onto Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)
• Familiarity writing Structured Query Language (SQL), optimizing, and simplifying existing queries
• Experience with Unix Shell scripting
• Hands-on experience in messaging technologies (e.g. Kafka, MQ, JMS)
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate at senior level.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience of delivering results in matrixed organizations under pressure and tight timescales.
• Experience of implementing test automation frameworks.
