About the Team:


We are the FIS Automated Finance team, and we build software to unlock intelligent cash management, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivables (AR) for some of the largest companies in the world. We are recognized as an industry leader for Order-to-Cash, utilizing ML and AI for intelligent automation, and AP optimization using Virtual Cards, but we’re not stopping there.  We are part of the Embedded Finance vertical, and we are building new features for our customers, accelerating time-to-value, and unlocking AP & AR services for the larger FinTech platform, to enable developers across all verticals to easily consume our services.


About the role: We are looking for a Senior Director of Software Development to help us drive transformation for our existing technology and build a brand-new system for the future. This is a true builder role, inventing solutions that meet our customer needs in a new space. We are looking for someone who will take a very large-scale business, optimize it and drive new growth. What you will be doing:


  • Leadership: Build and cultivate a high-performing engineering team with a passion for cloud-native principles, microservices architecture, and continuous delivery. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and ownership.


  • Technology Vision: Support the definition of the platform's technical roadmap and architecture, evangelizing best practices and aligning with business objectives. Stay ahead of industry trends and ensure our platform utilizes the latest advancements in cloud-native technologies.


  • Delivery Excellence: As a hands-on Manager, work closely with product management and the US engineering teams to define the roadmap and manage delivery. Drive high-quality code, excellent performance, and seamless scalability.


  • Adheres to the departmental application development and client delivery process standards.


  • Manages full software development lifecycle including testing, implementation, and auditing.


  • Operational Excellence: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for system health, performance, and security. Lead efforts to prevent outages and ensure the platform's continuous availability.


  • Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and other cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the development process.


  • Talent: Attract and retain top engineering talent. Foster a culture of learning and development, providing opportunities for growth and mentorship within the team


  • Manage the application of your multiple engineering and quality teams to optimize delivery of key market facing features.


  • Forecasts resource needs based on an analysis of both portfolio and projected client spend.


What you bring:


  • Strong technical credentials, with at least 12 years of technical engineering leadership, with 5+ years of experience in large scale distributed system development including hands on operational experience.


  • Demonstrated leadership capability to engage with the global engineering teams and strategize how to apply your teams to the overall goals.


  • Proven experience with full development life cycle for large-scale software products including extensive experience with service-oriented architectures, design patterns and web services.


  • Deep understanding of cloud-native principles, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes)


  • Experience designing and implementing APIs for third-party developers.


  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.


  • Experience leading projects from architectural design to production, while setting and maintaining high standards of technical excellence across your team.


  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous architectures, and distributed algorithms


  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a history of working effectively with your team and cross-functional stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (from Tier I college) or directly relevant industry experience


  • Master’s degree in computer science or directly relevant industry experience is added advantage.


  • Experience in FinTech, payments, or banking systems.
