What you will do


We are seeking a talented and experienced HANA Performance Engineer to join our growing team and play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and scalability of our cloud-based applications.


As a HANA Performance Engineer you will be focussing on aspects of HANA Performance including Query Analysis, Query Optimization, Index Analysis, perform detailed analysis of how our Products utilize HANA features such as Workload Management so that we can get the best performance out of HANA. Additionally you will help build Next Generation, state of art, AI/ML based solution for automated detection and analysis of HANA Performance Issues. You will also be a key part of migration from HANA on VM to HANA Cloud.


As a HANA Performance Engineer your job duties will include:


  • Being a part of the Performance Engineering Team, you will be working on SAP SuccessFactors top technical enterprise-wide priorities including Building of an Intelligent Cloud First Next Generation Performance Engineering Solutions using latest and greatest technologies including Containers/Kubernetes, Security, AI/ML, Microservices, Software Design Patterns.
  • Write JMeter, Gatling scripts as well as Build solutions that will ideally auto-generate such Multiuser Performance Test scripts
  • Perform in depth analysis of HANA related Performance Issues including Explain Plan Analysis, Query Introspection, analysis of Joins and provide guidance to Application Engineering to improve performance.

  • Great communication skills & Ability to Enhance Performance Coverage of SAP SuccessFactors Products.
  • Strong Computer Science Fundamentals, Proven experience as a Performance Engineer, BS/MS in CS.
  • Ability to Dig into the analysis of various Product workflows and features to find Performance issues and Anti-patterns in an automated manner.
  • Ability to Learn quickly, Ability to Use latest and greatest technologies in Performance domain to create highly innovative solutions that can detect and report Performance issues with great efficiency.
  • Ability to Apply technical expertise to challenging programming and design problems.
  • Be passionate about keeping up to date with latest technology and the technology for our products.
  • Ability to Perform debugging, problem solving and resolve defects / bugs as required.
  • Demonstratable passion for developing well architected, elegant software tools and services.
  • Deep understanding of traditional and in-memory databases.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the database structured query language (SQL).
  • Deal with complex SQL queries, running into hundreds of lines.
  • Knowledge of SAP Analytics cloud.
  • Interaction of select/update/delete/insert SQL statements.
  • Performance analysis of SQL statements.
  • Performance analysis of the database, SAP HANA studio, Creation of schemas, Schema export/import.
  • Deadlock analysis, Expensive statements analysis / execution plans.
  • HANA execution engines, Indexing strategies, SQL plan cache internals, HANA configuration parameters.
