Job profile

As Senior Design Engineer, Hydraulics you are responsible to Design and Development of mining equipment’s, create CAD models/ manufacturing drawings, BOM for sub-systems used in mining equipment’s and to ensure the quality of drawings produced by Design Engineers. The job is about providing engineering support to various Division’s within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions in Current Product Engineering, New product Development Engineering, Order based Engineering and Localization projects.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

• Collaborate with product and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions.
• Keep up to date with the latest technology trends.
• Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
• Involve in design & developing underground mining equipment’s.
• Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design.
• To have complete understanding, Fit and Function of Hydraulic components and assemblies in Underground Mining Equipment’s.
• To involve in the selection of OEM parts and to have technical discussion with Suppliers.
• Perform design calculations for design verification.
• Develop sub-system designs and make component selections.
• Provide engineering support to sourcing / production teams.
• Creation of BOM / ECN for release of drawings for production.
• Coordinate with Production team to complete the assembly.

Your profile

You have a university degree in Mechanical engineering / master’s in mechanical engineering or another relevant field (or equivalent) and between 7-10 years of experience into Hydraulics Engineering Design and Development. You have a solid track record of designing, developing Mechanical engineering solutions. You have the needed experience with relevant we see are some of the following:

• Describes hydraulic systems in specific application areas.
• Should have very good understanding on hydraulic component symbols and can logically combine them whenever required.
• Good understanding on working principle for various hydraulic components like Valves, Manifolds, Cylinders, Motors, Pumps, Accumulators etc.
• Designs the hydraulic system of a complete machine, including sizing of components.
• Manages system design calculations and specifies the hydraulic components to meet application requirements.
• Works with hydraulic component suppliers.
• Selects hydraulic components with comprehensive consideration of performance, cost and service.
• Troubleshoots hydraulic systems in own / outside application area.
• Performs detailed analysis of hydraulic systems on own products and products from other divisions and advises on improvements.
• Design and Development of mining equipment’s in line with the requirement of country safety standards.
• Acts as an internal authority within hydraulics and uses networks and benchmarks to identify synergies within own Business Area.
• Monitors the latest developments of technology, legislation, and requirements in the field of hydraulics.
• Should be well accounted international standards (ISO), IEC and ANSI for symbols, devices and components.
• Should have knowledge of ISO drafting standards for hydraulic circuits.
• Should have basic knowledge of electro-hydraulic interfaces and systems.
• Should have exposure to, UG, Teamcenter integrated environment, Auto Cad, SAP and E3-Hydaulics tool as added advantage.
• Good ability to work within the team.
• Expands the knowledge base within Hydraulics engineering.
• Drives the organization to expand the technical knowledge base within Hydraulics engineering area Sandvik-wide.
